My family and I are deeply honoured that a new school in Orléans will open this fall bearing my father’s name.
With strong English and French programming, it reflects his lifelong belief that bilingualism strengthens Canada and helps bring communities together.
He dedicated his life to that vision, while working to build a more sustainable and equitable world. We are grateful that future generations of students will carry this legacy as they learn and grow within its walls.

An excellent essay by my colleague @codymallette3 on Section 33 of Schedule B to the Canada Act -- sometimes called 'The Charter'. Read, mark, and inwardly digest!

It should be noted that New Zealand (as @acoyne notes, a country retaining parliamentary sovereignty) imposes life sentences without parole on multiple murderers. New Zealand does not require s. 33, as its courts cannot say (as ours have) that this infringes an entrenched right.
I offer my warmest congratulations to Jacques Frémont on being named to the Order of Ontario.
This recognition highlights his leadership and lasting contribution to the University of Ottawa and to society.
I’m delighted to see his career and engagement thus recognized.

Small detail: the Canadian regional jets flown by many U.S. carriers are mostly CRJs which are out of production, and already long certified. The tariff threat is therefore more rhetorical than practical. So in this context I’ll have to assume you’re referring to the Airbus 220 production… which even still would be a stretch… as they produce them in the US as well.

Speak: I can talk to you in English, French, and German tolerably well. Less so in modern Persian, Turkish, and modern standard Arabic. Read: Latin, Greek, Classical Persian, Arabic, Syriac, Armenian, and Imperial Aramaic. I'm still pretty competent in Biblical Hebrew also. I've completely forgotten Sanskrit and Middle Egyptian, though I read them in undergrad.
