Hey all! @CRESATalk is filling my former position as an Emergency Management Coordinator focusing on Mitigation & Recovery planning.
This job is based in Vancouver, WA (just outside of Portland, OR).

@SamLMontano I'm not sure what issues here would be emergency management. EMs cannot be pandemic experts on top of all else. PH offices should have been leads coordinating needs/messaging with EM offices.
Seems to me the only EM-related issue here is CDC and FEMA not communicating well.
What happens when you take away bodily autonomy?
Woman is being deemed too immature to decide for herself that she wants an abortion but the unspoken side of that ruling is that she is determined to be MATURE ENOUGH TO RAISE A CHILD.
Also, are the folks pushing this going to make childcare affordable? Support free lunch programs? Fund children's health programs? Fund school programs throughout the state?
Oh! Allow kids to go to school without fear of being murdered???
The answer (sadly) won't surprise you.
North Carolina is so pro-life they will murder women to force them to be incubators, even if the child in question is inviable and unable to survive beyond birth.
Side note: "Any person has the right to defend his or her own life or the life of another person, even by the use of deadly force if necessary, from willful destruction by another person."
Are executions gladiator-style fights to the death?
Compare @FirstStreetFdn's 2052 fire risk map that @mapgirl18 posted to the 2022 one in their 5th National Risk Assessment (https://t.co/jP8SfGhXWa)
Emergency Managers but lacking the resources & time to advocate for mitigation and risk reduction, despite the need.

I'll take "Old White Men Rigging Elections" for $100, Alex!
Seriously, though. The overlap of people who believe "The Election was stolen from Trump" and "I'm going to do what I can to cheat the system" is eye-watering. Irony at its best.
John Ley has admitted he doesn’t live in Battle Ground, at least not in a traditional sense. Ley is renting a room in Philip and Eileen Haggerty’s home, paying $1 per month, and is free to stay in the home whenever he wants. https://t.co/BI7HmCwXBt

@wesinjapan When I left Tulane, I cooked at stadiums, worked retail, and served at a blues club. All stuff that takes communication skills.
His head is so far in the sand he forgets that people have different skills and knowledge regardless of educational experience.
@DarkSpy87@SamLMontano I was just reading about Grenfell. I wish I could believe "That wouldn't happen here" but... I guess I'm just a pessimistic optimist. For those who see this wondering, good thread here: https://t.co/4zVsuGf89J (h\t @DisasterHimbo)
The Home Office will not require owners of high rise buildings to prepare evacuation plans, or make arrangements for disabled residents to escape, abandoning a core recommendation of the Grenfell Inquiry weeks before the fifth anniversary of the fire

@DarkSpy87 @theterbush @elonmusk And not following through with financial backing that could actually improve the world. You know, like world hunger or safe drinking water distribution systems.
So... @elonmusk is going to want government organizations to pay in order to share emergency information with you?
Large orgs may be willing to do so, but most gov orgs are tiny and struggle to pay for staff, let alone subscriptions for numerous tools to communicate.
So... #SCOTUS is worried about their private document being shared while discussing taking away rights to health privacy. Do we file this under irony or hypocrisy?
The top court's deliberations & opinions should all be made publicly. We deserve transparency.
JUST IN: The Supreme Court confirms the authenticity of the draft opinion revealed last night by Politico. The chief justice has ordered an investigation into the leak.
@bassmanboyer@_queerpear Curious, do you ever play those random "idle" games where most of your time is spent watching numbers going up and occasionally clicking?
My partner eventually learned that sometimes I just need an hour or 3 to watch a number progression so I can focus my mind on something.
@_queerpear I also keep fidget toys and whiteboards galore in my cube. Drawing out my thought pattern in a media I can erase and revise helps me plan my process. Or sometimes I just doodle my time away until the storm cloud in my head calms (and/or fixate on the calming nature of warm tea).
@_queerpear Not knowing how your brain works compared to mine, I have found I have projects better suited to my ADHD brain. I capitalize on the natural fixations my brain has. Meds or not, my brain tunnel-visions when working in excel and mapping (very small piece of my job).
