It is such a great honor, and I am immensely humbled to have Femi selected for the inaugural #BayList. I’m deeply grateful to be part of this incredible collaboration between @theblcklst, @RafaelCasal, and the amazing Bay Area partners. Read more in @Deadline.

Femi is a labor of love that resonates deeply with young dreamers from Nigeria who have had to overcome immense adversity to pursue what once felt impossible. It is a personal and visceral story inspired by the real-life journeys of my good friend Femi Ossai and myself, capturing our coming-of-age experiences with honesty and reflection.

When I decided to take a break from directing seven years ago to focus on developing my writing craft, I never imagined that choice would lead me to this moment. The @theblcklst and the @sundanceorg became my masterclass in screenwriting, with countless evaluations, notes, patience, and humility that have all paid off in the most undeniable way. I am beyond grateful.

I met Femi Ossai about five years ago. We had a story and a dream. Years later, here we are. Thank you, Femi, for your patience and for trusting me with your story, brother. Many more adventures ahead.

This is a dream in the making. I always deeply aspired to one day see my name in Deadline. It may have taken some time, but God is never late. I am truly thankful to God for this moment. It is a blessing and a milestone I will always cherish.

Although I wasn’t amongst the final 6 artists selected into the residency, making it as a finalist for the @Sundanceorg Collab’s Cultural Impact Residency in honor of the Late Michael Latt, a true Advocate for social justice, has been the highlight of my career and a profound honor. I offer my immense gratitude to his mother, @sundanceSatter, for creating this incredible opportunity to celebrate Michael's legacy. May Michaels commitment to social advocacy continue to inspire us all and foster significant advances in the lives of those he touched.
