I’ll never regret what I’m doing right now.
We’re officially 3 months in.
3 months since my perspective and enjoyment of Kpop changed.
I think Seunghan was the last drop in a cup that was already overflowing with the sins of this industry.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Kpop but I also refuse to sugarcoat how horrible and rotten it is to its core.
We often pretend we don’t see how this industry takes young kids with dreams and destroys them until they fit in a mold too small and too tight for them. We pretend we don’t see how this industry prefers puppets over humas. We pretend that we do not feed the cycle, but we do.
I don’t want to pretend anymore.
I don’t want to see more victims.
I don’t want to pretend what happened 3 months ago was okay.
3 months ago, a 21-year-old man was bullied and harassed out of a position he worked for years to earn. It happened to him because his company, SM Entertainment, continuously refuses to protect a list of idols that keeps growing every year.
I fight because I’m done pretending this is okay.
I fight because it was wrong.
What happened on October 13 was wrong.
I refused to ignore it, because I hope that if an injustice like this happens to me someone will also refuse to ignore it.
