@XfinitySupport Boston, MA getting 44.1 Mbps on my 1100 Mbps plan with constant disconnects. Just started happening the past couple days. No outages posted, what's happening?
@ShpanMan@moebio tbh people are hung up on the parrot concept without fully understanding what it means in this case. read Korzybski “General Semantics”— like his classic, LLMs focus on the relationships between words, not the words themselves, ie concepts. LLMs are concept search engines!
@nateberkopec@geoffharcourt nah, the rails prime people are more enterprisey, so less public in rails circles. but 2 things drive our poro usage: 1) SOA objects don’t use AR. 2) DBAs manage our dbs separately from Rails.
@VerizonSupport I finally had enough and switched to @Mintmobile . coverage in Concord, MA is very good. I actually get 5g in nost of town, and where I don’t LTE still works with data. My phone is actually usable outside of my house and work now. (wifi calling is great, but not alone. Thanks!
Hey @Verizon my phone is absolutely useless in Concord, MA. Aren’t you supposed to fallback to LTE data when 5G is unavailable? Support tells me wifi calling works, sure, but I’m paying Comcast for that. Why am I paying you? At least AT&T had SOME signal here.
@VerizonSupport Nah, we tried that. Your support read from the same script it always does and tried to give me a wifi extender. So I fixed this myself. It has nothing to do with the reception, it’s the cellular settings. Your LTE fallback under 5G doesn’t work. LTE does. Get your story straight.
@truuuuuck@A_J_Higgins@seanmcarroll I’m not sure that’s true. The response “are you sure?” baffles undergraduates and chatgpt alike. Spotting the mistakes actually puts you in the job of the expert, the professor, so I think it requires learning more, not less.
Saw @Dr_Hawass lecture in Boston on his last stop in his USA tour. Fantastic presentation and stories, more big discoveries in September! Also, @joshuagates let the man speak will ya? :D #archeology#Egypt#fedora
@seanmcarroll and remember kids, by Shannon, if you collect too much information in the same space, you risk creating a black hole, which gets you closer to what you are studying, so win-win!
@VerizonSupport Why is LTE able to get an IP, but no service? If data was unavailable I wouldn’t get any IP at all. This seems like a problem at your data center?
@rubygems_status this is breaking us, using artifactory as a gem mirror plus our own internal gems. gem install times have gotten really long and bundle install no longer works. The fixes either break external gems or internal gems, so either way we can’t get a working install.
@tristanharris@aza great talk, two nits: 1) human organs have developed in the context of exponential data, ears and the decibel system are an example of a log scale in sound power. 2) mathematics capability is still very poor, but you may not recognize the answer is wrong
@SendGrid you are AWFUL. A form my nonprofit uses once per year is completely offline because you closed the account without any communication. I will NEVER use your service again. Does anyone know a RELIABLE email vendor for heroku? I’m happy to switch immediately.
@UberEats this is the second time we’ve ordered dinner and the driver canceled after being an hour late. Fortunately we separately drove and picked up the food (the restaurant would have been screwed, so we happily paid them for your mistake). There won’t be a third time.
