I want to thank so many of you who have reached out personally to congratulate us and assure us of your prayers. We are humbled and accept this opportunity for service knowing it is a stewardship for which we will give account. I want to congratulate my brother, Josh Powell, and his wonderful family for his exemplary conduct and efforts during this season.
My esteem for him has only grown and I know he will be a voice in Southern Baptist life for years to come. We need 1000 pastors like him.
I want to assure all Southern Baptists, those who voted for me and those who didn’t, that
our desire is to serve our Lord and you and my prayer is indeed that God will bring us into a season of reconciliation and renewal. It is my hope to listen and to serve and I ask for your prayers, your patience, and your continued cooperation as we continue in the good work God has given us to do.
As Southern Baptists gather in Orlando this week, remember what’s not on the agenda: Like debating whether monogamy, even same-sex monogamy, might “unintentionally reinforce systems of shame, silence, and spiritual coercion,” as the Presbyterian Church (USA) is doing. How far the PCUSA has fallen, yet how predictable once Scripture’s authority is abandoned.

Bearing false witness is a serious charge. I was disappointed to see the Christ Over All team (Drs. Schrock, Wellum, Green, et al.) accused of deceit without sufficient evidence, and I am glad @DavidSchrock responded rather than allowing the allegation to stand unanswered.
@deaninserra Dean, the @Christ_OverAll interview with Powell and summary chart actually corrected many of my false assumptions about him and left me thinking higher of his candidacy. If they are engaged in propaganda, they are doing a terrible job.
@DavidSchrock@BaptistReview@Christ_OverAll David, I listened to both interviews and thought the chart was a great summary of answers given. Didn’t make me think less of either men.
This June, we need every faithful Southern Baptist to fill the roads and the skies as we all cut a path to Orlando to answer God’s call to biblical fidelity.

I'm a Christian guys. An actual one. In that, I was born again and strive to follow the example of Jesus. He's not just a social symbol to me. He's my Lord.
He wept in Gethsemane, like a lamb to slaughter endured the trial of the cross, and rose victoriously.
He didn't have a podcast, a pulpit, or a palace during his earthly ministry. He had a relatively small following by the time He left this earth.
But His impact is unmatched because He invades the hearts of the faithful. He makes it so they are his devoted followers regardless of earthly incentives. He showed them the way when he resisted fleeting pleasures to obey His father.
Christianity, the real kind, is an unmatched force because it permanently resides in the hearts of Christ's own who look to heavenly reward and resist every external pressure that would compel them to stop following their Lord, Master, and King.
They are known by their neighbor love, their repentance when convicted of sin, and their boldness in adversity.
The kind of Christianity that changes the world is the real kind and it isn't going anywhere. There is no cultural Christianity without it.
A message to my fellow Southern Baptists. We need to get this done and move forward together. I propose an amendment to preserve our unity in truth. https://t.co/51wbtoJoMT
