I can understand that. It took me till week 5 to realize I was set to private and nobody could see any of my posts. No wonder nobody was replying. π€¦ββοΈ And I could sort by date so I could see 'latest' posts for class. Definite learning curve. #DistEd534
@KayNaydia @colleen_mcb#DistEd534 case in point...I have been βhash taggingβ to DisED534. Seriously feel like I canβt learn one more platform or technology based forum right now. I can relate to your Auntβs frustration and I feel most days inept to teach online π’
@LeslieMiccio@Chellesweeney16 I agree. There's something about hearing voices that makes it more conversational. I feel like writing, even on twitter, is more formal. Though I like that there are these discussions here too. Opinions where we don't have to find an article to support the thought #DistEd534
New #Podcast! "Dossier Preparation: From Clinician to Educator" To address the faculty shortage, many schools recruit experienced clinicians into nurse educator roles. #ApplePodcasts https://t.co/AUJJEfpUBc #GooglePlayMusic https://t.co/yP7TtDESwk
I signed up for this tutorial. I use Articulate in my job as clinical educator. I am excited to see how the new program upgrades will work and how I can use it to its fullest! #DistEd534
@KayNaydia Until taking this course, I did not appreciate what all is available. It's not really a learning curve of Articulate, more of me. I do not think it allows importing of other files, it simply enhances a ppt. But maybe I will learn I am wrong in this tutorial! #DistEd534
@BeeneYelros40@chronicle I would not be ok with that! But cheating is a concern. This article discusses the use of small wireless earbuds as a distraction and cheating tool. It's a shame what a few will do to cheat and make it harder for the rest of us.

This short article offers a creative alternative to discussion posts: Have students create a drug ad using TikToK, Snapchat, etc. The same could be done for disease process too - create an ad for a disease support group.

Trying this again since I realized the first time I was set to private and nobody could see my posts! π€¦ββοΈ
Which way would you prefer to interact with your students? #DistEd534
@lori_kerley@elearnindustry I loved this as well. Giving feedback starting with I (I suggest) and not you (you should) really struck me. I never want to sound accusatory, but sometimes struggle with how to best word feedback. I will use this verbiage in the future #DistEd534
Self-debriefing has a low effectiveness rating. I personally did not feel like the debriefing after our Shadow Health assignments were very effective, but in an asynchronous setting it is difficult to find an alternative. Did you feel like you learned from them? #DistEd534
@KayNaydia I believe it is a little of both. There is no enforcement of online teaching practices so they must be self-motivated to learn. And if you are not tech-savvy, that necessary effort is even greater. This shows the teachers who truly care about their students' learning #DistEd534
I spoke with my aunt again today about her transition to online teaching. She is exhausting herself trying to learn & use tools at the same time. Meanwhile some colleagues are doing the minimum to get by, just zoom lecture with no engagement. It's disappointing to hear #DistEd534
@BeeneYelros40@wef Months ago, I saw posts on FB that virtual lessons were much shorter than traditional. I did not know whether or not to believe it. I find it interesting that this article cites e-learning takes 40-60% less time. I guess FB was accurate on that one. #DistEd534
@KayNaydia Don't know the solution, but I agree that there is disparity. My region has a wide economic range. The students in 1 district already used Dist Ed for snow days so they are familiar with it. Another had never used a tablet before, adding a hurdle to their education #DistEd534
Don't know how long the code will last, but it worked for me today. The book includes short descriptions of over 70 digital tools. I find the number of digital tools out there to be overwhelming, but look forward to reviewing them over time even after this class ends. #DistEd534
By their subjects, they obviously are thinking of kids in this tutorial, but I think it applies to adult learning as well. Each of these 5 points would help me remain engaged and learn #DistEd534
In the synchronous online classroom, webcam use is controversial. This article points out both pros and cons. Do you feel seeing your student during a lecture allows you to evaluate comprehension? #DistEd534

@Mandi57489747 I think undergraduate nursing (RN to BSN) can be done through dist ed. However not your RN. My sister was a paramedic already, so it was a bridge to RN program 8 yrs ago. She passed her boards on the first try, but I really felt like she was not a well prepared nurse. #DistEd534
