Alexander Scott-Bowen, a Kingswood resident, was sentenced to 38 weeks in prison today for a series of sexual assaults in which he cornered young women in public in order to sniff and grope their feet.
Scott-Bowen’s offending began in 2022, when he cornered three young women in Yate on separate occasions, engaging them in conversation about their feet or their shoes before grabbing their foot and sniffing it. Police lacked sufficient evidence to charge any of their suspects, and the case was filed pending futher evidence or fresh assaults.
In March of 2025, two more feet-sniffing incidents were reported to police. They were able to identify Scott-Bowen as the suspect, and then to link him conclusively with the 2022 assaults. He was arrested, interrogated, and released on bail with conditions while enquiries continued.
On New Year’s Eve of that year, while still out on bail, Scott-Bowen assaulted two more young girls in Cribb’s Causeway. He then assaulted a third woman in Stoke Gifford on 21 January of this year. On 24 January he was re-arrested and charged with seven counts of sexual assault against seven separate victims. He was remanded into custody, and entered a guilty plea to all seven counts of the indictment on 6 July. He remained in custody until this afternoon, when he was sentenced and then released on time served.
While Mr. Scott-Bowen was not violent during the assaults, I find it highly concerning that he continued to offend while out on bail. He had to have known that he would be the first suspect in any foot-sniffing incidents, but was either unable or unwilling to refrain from carrying them out.
Mr. Scott-Bowen is clearly suffering from intense paraphilic urges, and it is unrealistic to think that his recent experience with the criminal justice system will be sufficient to keep him from reoffending.
My concern, as an experienced police officer who has seen similar situations play out in my own jurisdiction, is that he may resort to violence in order to prevent his next victims from reporting him, even though his paraphilia itself is non-violent in nature. If a victim screams, or threatens to report him, it may well push him over the line into real violence. He will be on the sex offender’s register for the next decade, but he really ought to be on it for life. Offenders with paraphilias almost never rehabilitate.
@sappholives83 Wish I still had Ripley my German Shepherd girl. I think I'm going to seriously consider getting another as a well trained GSD is the best protection we are allowed in the UK🇬🇧
@QcWynter As the now retired manager of a venue that hosted many weddings and parties unused wine was a nice little bonus at the end of the night. Some for the hard working staff and some back into stock. I don't drink myself so had to make do with scoffing any uneaten buffet delicacies.
@HazelAppleyard I'm a straight married woman and mother of four and I had no problem with using my local barbers to get my Annie Lennox style crop cut. They were always happy to see me and as previously mentioned it was half the price of the ladies hairdressers.

@QcWynter@gordyb1872 Seeing Lynseys distress after that disgraceful 800m final was quite affecting, I was screaming at the TV screen, why was nobody on the BBC commentary team saying what so many of us could see with our own eyes. Of course we know now don't we?
@TreeBirdFish@MrMennoTweets Very suspicious about the cancellation of Mindhunter
as the next series was going to cover the transvestite aspect of serial killers in more detail. Very disappointed we have lost this brilliant show.
@DamCou I have followed a musician who was famous in the 80s for years who only posted about music, art and moody photography who completely out of the blue posted a photo of himself wearing a Protect the Dolls t-shirt. Years of admiration gone.
@TracyEdwardsMBE I sometimes work at London Bridge station and think this every time I gaze up at The Shard. It gives me a lot of pleasure, but I'm not sure why 😕
@roseveniceallan Horrified to encounter a scrawny old man in a check mini skirt and black tights whilst dropping off a parcel at Dartford Post Office 🤢
@jk_rowling I found myself caught up in a Pro Palestine demo while visiting Manchester and was appalled to see so many seemingly British people displaying such anti semitic hatred.
Went back to my hotel deeply saddened and worried for our Jewish friends.
