This weekend we lost our dear friend Jim Barr. Jim was always about the team, the players, and the men he coached with. He was the ultimate professional in the classroom and on the field, coaching whatever sport was in season.

But above all else, Coach Barr was a great father, husband and educator who was passionate about his family and left a legacy with many students, teachers, and coaches that will endure.

Our hearts go to the entire Barr family, his wife Janice and children Maria and Mitch.

It’s with profound sadness that we share the passing of a true Mariemont Warrior.

Coach Jim Barr coached LBs from 2013-16, was DC from 2017-19, 2025, and provided staff assistance in 2020, 2021 and 2024.

He also coached bowling, soccer, wrestling and track with MHS.

POWERFUL: #NFL safety Bryan Cook received only ONE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP OFFER coming out of high school.

That offer came from Howard.

Cook spent two seasons there before transferring back home to Cincinnati, where he eventually became a first-team All-AAC safety and helped the Bearcats reach the College Football Playoff.

Then Kansas City selected him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

A few years later?

Cook had TWO Super Bowl rings with the #Chiefs.
