@robably__ Additionally, networks and resources can be found without a university, often through local, community-based groups (analog or digital) rooted in collaboration. Everybody has different preferences!
@robably__ I worked in web design independently for the last 6 years and just barely started a master of design program for graduate school. I think people are capable of being *self directed learners*. Tuition just buys you networks and resources on top of implicit motivation.
“When will I use this in the real world?” is asked on behalf of an unraveling educational architecture. At a student’s fingertips is radical autonomy in advocacy of the learner and system. Seeking self-actualization in the mundane permeates the tangibility of abstracted identity.
I’m hearing more and more from PhD students and postdocs (and tenured Professors) about their interest in starting podcasts as an offshoot and/or alternative to their other career trajectories. Indeed, “Science & Health Podcasting” is soon to be a course at several institutions.
You can literally change your entire life in a few months. I have done it for myself, helped others do it, and watch other people follow the steps.

I remember how shocked some people were that you can do causal analysis with qualitative methods, too.
In fact, ethnography *can* provide very robust evidence of causation (particularly because the researcher is often literally RIGHT THERE to observe cause and effect)
finally reached that point in college/adulthood where i clean up my kitchen every night before bed, pick up any spare items, and make sure my morning is as easy as possible 🤩♥️
Took my daughter to the library at USyd yesterday. Marvelling at the endless books, she danced through the stacks, threw open her arms and declared, "I'm in heaven". A reminder of how universities are meant to make us feel.
