Today, on the International Day of the Disappeared, the “Long Road to Justice” International Conference was held in Jaffna, organized by the Association of Relatives of the Enforced Disappeared in the North and East.

Families of the forcibly disappeared, UN expert on enforced disappearances Ana Lorena Delgadillo Pérez, the South Asia Regional Director of Amnesty International, and representatives of diplomatic missions attended the conference.

The event highlighted the decades-long struggle of families of the disappeared for truth, justice, and accountability.

Human Skeleton No. 429 was identified in a folded-leg seated burial position during today’s excavation.

A similar folded-leg seated burial was also documented during the Phase 2 excavation last year, marking the second such discovery at the Chemmani mass grave site.
