When in Maharashtra, Marathi People Deserve to Be Prioritised

This is not about hatred toward people from other states—this is about the disappointment and injustice that Marathi people often face in their own state.

Today, we see our people struggling for opportunities in firms where Marathi representation is missing. Marathi-medium schools are fighting for survival. In many places, our own people feel like outsiders in their own land, facing subtle and direct bullying in non-Marathi circles.

Is this what cosmopolitanism means—where unity is spoken of, but the local identity is ignored or suppressed?

This is not about creating division. This is about standing up for what is rightfully ours. Maharashtra has always welcomed migrants. But this openness should not be mistaken for weakness. Respect is a two-way street.

We do not support hooliganism or violence of any kind. We do appreciate and respect non-Marathi individuals who make the effort to learn the Marathi language, embrace the culture, and contribute positively to society. This message is not against them. This is about those who come here, benefit from the land, but show no regard for its people or language.

When you move to Maharashtra, you must respect the land and its people. It's not a matter of choice—it’s a matter of basic decency.

And to all my fellow Marathi brothers and sisters—in today’s fast-changing world, let us not just demand our place, but also earn it. Let's sharpen our skills. Improve our communication. Be proactive. Lift each other up. If you’re established, help someone else rise.

Unity, self-improvement, and mutual respect—this is how we secure the dignity and future of Marathi people in Maharashtra.
