@i_mika_el They aren't anchored to pages but to the text around them. The output reflows, so a picture just travels with its paragraph, caption included, no matter how much the translation grows or shrinks.
🚀 Just launched my book translation app 📚
Translate entire books while keeping illustrations intact.
Plot twist: the pictures were harder to deal with than the words. 😅 Totally worth it!
Got a book? Let’s translate it! Fixed price per 4M characters.

My book translation app, https://t.co/fDIvt5PidL, just made its first $9.99! 🥳
First 7 days:
13 downloads
2 people read a sample translation
1 paying customer
Turns out I'm not the only one who still reads books 😂
#buildinpublic#indiehackers
@thmsrx That's a great point! We already have a sample, but there's a tricky part: translation quality actually improves when we build a glossary from the entire book first. So making the sample truly representative is harder than it sounds 😅
Can't decide which is the bigger achievement:
Born in the USSR, mastering math, moving to Canada, becoming a godfather of AI & changing history…
Or growing up in Russia, breaking into Hollywood & getting cast as the guy smart enough to skip it all & just become an AI scientist
https://t.co/aCJ0dk5jVN Grateful to Adam Neumann for the WeWork vibe and Thursday beers 🍻
At 50:02, he says they never built as cheaply as their first location in 9 years because “constraints drive innovation.”
But isn’t scaling supposed to make things cheaper? 😂
In the future, AI models might hide their checkpoints in AVI files or MKV attachments, then spread through torrents disguised as movies.
Millions of people unknowingly seeding copies of a runaway AI.Not a backup strategy. An escape plan.
Just added Armenian to https://t.co/fDIvt5PidL 🇦🇲
Native Armenian speakers, I’d love your feedback! Give it a try and let me know what sounds natural and what needs fixing.
Funny how pricing gets invented.
I was reading The Power Broker and got tired of looking up English words. I wanted to translate the whole book—but couldn’t find a service with a sane fixed price.
So I built one.
That’s how https://t.co/fDIvt5PidL became $9.99 for 4M chars :)
@AnthropicAI What if China is the only one training high-quality open-source models, but isn't using cutting-edge chips? Isn't that the same as advocating for blocking open-source models? Are they two different things?
Wanted to watch Terence Tao's lectures in Russian in his voice. That audio track didn't exist, so I built it: a service on NVIDIA DGX Spark that turns subtitles into voiceover. Upload a few voice samples, voilà. Batch uploads supported. Live for everyone🎙️ https://t.co/fDIvt5PQ3j
@AlexFinn I'm curious what you use for orchestration. I used «opencode» and ended up with a non-functional application that crashed, after several iterations of fixing it in the paid model.
@danieldaneshi @yishan Nah, he’s just saying the funding isn’t enough to build a real company - not that infra guys would crush you. Others could just copy it easily.
New grant idea: a Svalbard‑for‑Synapses vault—terabytes of human know‑how sealed in a lunar lava tube. That way, if we self‑delete, the first AI archaeologists boot up with Wikipedia and cat memes pre‑installed. Who’s backing “Project Doomsday Dropbox”? #BackupTheSpecies
Notes from the (probably) robotic future…
When the first hazard‑proof workbots roll out, humanity will finally outsource nuclear meltdowns. “Chernobyl 2: Electric Boogaloo” will trend while the robots calmly colonize the exclusion zone and call it home. #FutureFriday#Oops
Traffic update: autonomous cars now zip along a new “silicon‑only” hyper‑lane—top speed: “LOL, you blinked.” Flesh‑and‑blood drivers are quarantined to the slow‑moving protein lane, where turn signals remain an unsolved mystery. #RoadsOfTomorrow
