With support from @theGEF, @undpmalawi and @MalawiGovt, we are installing an 80KWp Solar PV Mini Grid in Mchinji to benefit 4 villages of Ndawambe, Chisenga, Molosiyo and Sitolo. The project will connect over 880 households for both domestic and income generating activities use.
From Nov 5 - 22 we went to Ntchisi, Mzimba, Chitipa, Likoma Island and Nkhotakota where we visited CBOs benefiting from our solar energy systems installed under CEDEP with support from @scotgov. The CBOs were further trained in how to use the electricity as a business.
From November 5 - 21, our officers went across the southern region; Nsanje, Machinga, Phalombe, Neno and Balaka where they visited, monitored and evaluated our solar energy system projects. The systems were installed from 2012 - 2013 under CEDEP with support from @scotgov.
CEM is attending the CISONECC organized panel discussion through its Country Director, Edgar Kapiza Bayani, on raising awareness on energy governance and Malawi energy goals and priorities. The discussion is taking place at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.
On Wednesday, November 28, 2018 CEM and GIE Malawi partners with support from @hivosrosa , together with language and energy experts, had an English - Chichewa Energy Glossary Validation Workshop in Zomba. The glossary aims to translate common English energy words into Chichewa.
In August, 2018 we engaged extension workers in Balaka and trained them on mainstreaming energy in Village Area Planning process. This activity was done under @scotgov and @hivosrosa. CEM is working towards making sure energy is both green and inclusive.
Our Energy Development Officer for Balaka, Louis Yona, with Science, Environmental and Wildlife clubs at Balaka Secondary School. Together they went to Mpiniumodzi Primary School on November 8, 2018, our intervention area, to learn on renewable energy systems. @hivosrosa.
