Well done @NASA for safely returning #OSIRISREx! 👏
Our Near-Earth Object Coordination Centre #NEOCC managed to spot the spacecraft just after separation. Check it out 👇
After a journey of nearly 3.9 billion miles, the #OSIRISREx asteroid sample return capsule is back on Earth. Teams perform the initial safety assessment—the first persons to come into contact with this hardware since it was on the other side of the solar system.
Tomorrow, @NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft will drop off a sample from ancient asteroid #Bennu.
🔭Here is the first image of OSIRIS-REx when it was 4.66 million km from Earth on 16 September as seen by ESA’s Optical Ground Station telescope in Tenerife.

I’ll be on @RealLynnBowles on @BBCRadioWales Sunday from 16.15ish talking asteroids and exploding stars. Look out for some great ISS passes over the UK in the next week! #OSIRISREx#Psyche#JWST @CP2TC_CPIDd @cardiffPHYSX
@comet_chasers has spotted another outburst for 12P (a bit smaller than the last one, but then 5 magnitude outbursts don't happen very often!) Thanks to our international observers, and Richard Miles for the analysis. More details in our (first) ATel 😁 https://t.co/WkDzz8E3ry
Eisteddfodwyr! Cofiwch dod draw i weld Cipwyr Comedau (lleoliad tbd!) yfory, dydd Mawrth a Mercher. Bydd cyfle i chi cymryd lluniau eich hunain! #steddfod2023@eisteddfod @cardiffPHYSX @colegcymraeg@GwyddCCC
Latest images from our #12P Campaign - great teamwork!
Now we're using 2m @faulkstel to try to determine the nucleus rotation period.
I'm sure setting up observations of the Millenium Falcon will be very popular when @senoj_draddots takes @comet_chasers to @eisteddfod next week!
@faulkestel@comet_chasers are gathering lots of fantastic data on the Comet 12P outburst whichlooks like the Millennium Falcon!
Here are today's observations - the second one is the same data processed to reveal the detail close to the nucleus of the comet #Comet12P
@ZJAyres I did some education outreach yesterday at @stmarysbridgend with @comet_chasers and @FLO_UK and the children took this photo of a sunspot. They used remotely a telescope in Spain which has a special Hydrogen Alpha filter to make it safe and to see detail.
Space Academy day 4. Today is all about robots - @SeismoAnna talking about @NASAInSight on Mars and @CatTryfona covering the use of technology in society (and her robot army!). @cardiffPHYSX @CdfCommitment@cardiffuni#STEM#STEMeducation
