SWITZERLAND HAS BEEN COMPROMISED!!!
The country's new proposed surveillance law would require companies like Proton VPN:
>require new users to provide ID
>keep user data for 6 months
>be able to decrypt messages upon police request.
Proton has described this law as "worse than the one in the United States."
As a precaution, Proton has begun to move part of its servers out of Switzerland.
The law faces opposition from companies and politicians so there is a chance it won't pass
The DoJ announces that the SPLC paid klan members a monthly salary to stay in the KKK and recruit new members. That a non-profit would do this is sick and sad. Just what were they thinking?
Sad to cancel GitHub Copilot after years of great use, but the new pricing structure is totally broken. 3 Agent sessions just devoured 50% of my monthly token allowance. Speed running a cancellation at this rate. 🤷♂️

@Itsfoss False. Microsoft DID NOT ship GNU coreutils. They have shipped uutils, which is a Rust clone that is not coreutils and not GNU and not even original uutils.
Dear GitHub Copilot team,
I am happy to announce that I successfully burned all of my monthly tokens in under 3 days thanks to your garbage new pricing model.
I'd also like to inform you that I won't be renewing my subscription or adding more budget.
Best,
A former customer.

Perhaps most striking, these benefits showed up in people who didn’t identify as exercisers
Sprinting up the stairs, a quick set of bodyweight squats, jumping jacks, chasing the dog, burpees... it all counts

Jeff Bezos: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."

🇨🇭Switzerland built its whole reputation on privacy. Now it's proposing a surveillance law that would force VPNs, email, and messaging providers to collect your ID, log your data for six months, and decrypt it on demand.
Proton says it's worse than the US.
It is if it yields the imposition of special demands that yield a substantive impact on those who disagree.
The dynamic is exactly that of the little brother that wants to follow his big brother everywhere, including where he isn’t welcome, when the big brother, for example, wants to be with his own friends without having his little brother on his trail all the time.
The primary point is that if the argument is being made about feelings being a factor to consider, then it applies in the reverse as well, otherwise we have a form of group favoritism at the expense of another group that happens to feel strongly against it.
If we don’t like group favoritism/disfavoritism dynamics (I detest it because it tends to make large mistakes at the individual level), then we can demote thinking in terms of groups, and promote thinking in terms of sovereign individuals, which lessens tribalism/groupism — and related problems.
This goes both ways then; trivially, if transpeople feelings are valid and deserving of respect, then so are everyone else’s.
Otherwise, it entails that transpeople’s feelings are more deserving than women’s who might feel strongly against the expected imposition.
The very framing would have one group trade against the other as an oppressor/oppressed narrative to enact a power grab.
The ‘groupism’ game is clear and obvious.
Knock it off.
@FemCondition Everyone has the right to say and believe whatever they like about themselves. I simply disagree that society should abandon all sex-based safeguarding and rights in favour of laws and norms based on subjective, unfalsifiable feelings.
@FemCondition None of us has the right to compel another person’s speech or belief. You’re free to think and speak as you like. So am I.
Men are free to try and look female, or act according to their male idea of what a woman is. Women are free to disagree that those men have become women.
