The Comics Podcast

A weekly show that features nuanced comic book discussion. Topics that we have covered include: ethics in comics, lizard fursonas, and wizard abortions.

Oh hey there's a new episode of the pod! The fourth episode in fact, on the complicated legacy of Brian K Vaughan and Niko Henrichon's stunning, lion-focused Iraq War comic Pride of Baghdad

It's a new week! Which means... well, actually we're a biweekly show so no new episode until next Wednesday. But if you haven't gotten a chance to listen to our debut episode where we talked about Watchmen for like two hours, well.... now's your chance

@Inonumband tbh yeah just buffer our existing income a bit and we would do it. Extra $3-5k and we bring it back @JeffBezos @BillGates @georgesoros

Our 66-month social experiment has concluded. Felt like I should mention this on Twitter. You can listen to the last episode and the archives will be up on YouTube over the next month

Gotta get better about promoting these episodes. We dropped our 2020 EotY show over the weekend where we built our list of last year's top ten comics. Listen to it!!!

New episode should be up today. Sorry for the delay, our editor ran into some pretty severe technical difficulties but it'll be out and it's a good one, so think of it like getting two eps in one week (since the next one will go out at the usual time)

@alexhandziuk If you do this you are banned from ever coming on the podcast again sorry

FUTURE STATE: THE NEXT BATMAN #1

Essentially a 3-in-1, and 2 outta 3 ain't a bad ratio. Nick Derrington and Sumit Kumar carry the first two stories with some phenomenal art, and the writing is competent enough. The third story is a real downshift, bland and wildly overwritten

[The Comics Podcast @comicspodcast]

I don't think any of us are going to read any of the books coming out this week because we're catching up for the EotY show but I'm going to post a list of comics I want to read from this week so I don't forget

ETERNALS #1

Given how much I tend to love Kieron Gillen and Esad Ribic I was a little let down here. It's a.... fine... first issue but feels too formulaic for these two creators. I'll stick with it for a few issues, but the amount of monologue/exposition killed the pacing

[The Comics Podcast @comicspodcast]

@empandanada Can't trust that guy

[The Comics Podcast @comicspodcast]

These are the 40 comics we'll be discussing on the show tonight, so if you plan on listening when the end of year episode hits make sure you're caught up on any you care about spoilers for :)
