People of good will: Please join me in supporting @smrlsmn as a direct way to provide legal counsel to Minnesotans whose civil rights have been violated in the federal surge. https://t.co/K9CBnki5wm
From @springsteen :
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
Stay free, Bruce Springsteen
It seems a lot of people think they know Minneapolis now. Our flaws. Our faults.
I hope my neighbors join me in reclaiming the narrative.
Minneapolis, through the eyes of someone who actually lives here:
Senator Alex Padilla is a good man and principled public servant.
The brazen and aggressive manhandling of Senator Padilla by the Trump administration is a sickening disgrace.
Anyone who assaulted the Senator should be held accountable.
No one is above the law.
Republicans launched their illegal assault on our government and American families on January 20, and we will not ignore the devastation they’ve caused in just two months. People lost their jobs. The economy is in freefall. Veterans have been tossed aside like garbage. Families are furious.
And now these same cowardly Republicans—too scared to even look their own voters in the eye at town halls—want to hand Trump and Musk a blank check to slash, gut, and hijack federal funding however they damn well please. This isn’t just corruption; it’s a full-blown power grab. I’ve said it directly to Democratic leaders across the party: we will not stand for this.
Republicans have a choice: negotiate in good faith with Democrats, or own the chaos they’re unleashing. They are threatening Social Security, ripping Medicaid away from hundreds of thousands, gutting schools, veterans' services, and public lands—all to line the pockets of their ultra-wealthy donors with obscene tax cuts. It’s disgusting.
Americans deserve a responsible, bipartisan budget—not one dictated by Trump’s whims. Congress—not that wannabe dictator—must control federal spending.
And since Republicans are too spineless to face their own constituents, Democrats will do it for them. Starting this weekend, we’re heading into red districts in every state to hold in-person town halls and listen to voters who are mad as hell at what Trump, Musk, and the GOP are doing to this country. The fight isn’t coming—it’s already here.
Just finished So We Read On by @MaureenCorrigan, an expansive look at the how and why of Fitzgerald’s writing of the Great Gatsby, on the eve of its 100th birthday. Too much to rave about in a tweet! Also, behold the original cover art by Francis Cugat.
@JustinWolfers He cannot because without fear, there is no 2024 GOP platform. The disturbing part is how compelling that fear platform is for so many of our fellow Americans.
@KristiNoem Governor Walz won more than 1.3 million votes in Minnesota in 2018 and 2022, which alone is 1.5x your state’s population. He won by 8-11 points in each election. Enough with the rambling fear tactics.
