Jesus is coming, and time is short.

Dear true Christian woman,

I am writing to you with urgency, because this is not about fashion. It is about where you will spend eternity.

Time is short. Jesus is coming for a bride without spot, blemish, or wrinkle.

How do you prepare? You open the Bible and stay there. You seek Him daily in prayer. To be a true Christian is to live by faith and to obey His Word, whether you feel like it or not, and whether friends, family, or social media agree. God is perfect. His ways are perfect. We are not.

So hear this plainly: makeup is not God’s will for your life.

Why would a perfect God make you so defective that you must paint your face before the world will accept you? He made you in His image. When He finished creating, He called His work very good.

So God created man in his own image, And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. — Genesis 1:31

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.Psalm 139:14

If God is perfect, He did not botch your face. When you cover what He made because you believe the uncovered version is not enough, you are telling the Creator that His work needs correction. You are saying, in practice, that the culture sees better than He does. That is not humility. That is distrust.

Nor did He design you to go broke buying confidence. A beauty standard that must be repurchased every month is a leash. The people who sell it will not tell you to take it off.

Look at the pattern in Scripture. Painted eyes do not appear in scenes of blessing. They appear beside rebellion, unfaithfulness, and death.

Jezebel destroyed the prophets of God. When judgment reached her door, she did not repent. She painted her eyes, arranged her hair, and looked out of the window. God gave her a violent death, and the dogs ate her.

When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it. And she painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked out of the window. — 2 Kings 9:30

This is the first clear story in the Bible tied to eye paint, and the woman in it dies under judgment. The paint did not save her. It was the last costume of a life set against God.

Jeremiah uses the same picture for a people under judgment. Scarlet. Gold. Painted eyes. And all of it in vain, because the lovers she dressed for despise her and want her life.

And you, O desolate one, what do you mean that you dress in scarlet, that you adorn yourself with ornaments of gold, that you enlarge your eyes with paint? In vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers despise you; they seek your life. — Jeremiah 4:30

Ezekiel draws the same line. The unfaithful woman bathes, paints her eyes, and puts on ornaments for men who are not her husband.

They even sent for men to come from afar, to whom a messenger was sent; and behold, they came. For them you bathed yourself, painted your eyes, and adorned yourself with ornaments. — Ezekiel 23:40

Three witnesses. Three scenes of unfaithfulness. Three times the painted face stands next to judgment, not next to holiness. God is not the author of confusion. He did not scatter that pattern through Scripture by accident.

The Book of Enoch, kept in the Ethiopic canon though not in the King James Bible, names the source of the practice among the fallen Angels.

And Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all coloring tinctures. — 1 Enoch 8:1

If makeup were God’s intention for women, He would have said so.
There is no law that reads, “Women should wear makeup.”

What the New Testament does command is the opposite emphasis: do not let your adorning be "external"

Do not spend your life arranging your face for a world that is passing away, and then meet Him and hear Him say He never knew you

Repent!

Where in His Word has He ever told you to put on makeup?

You were created in His image perfectly.

So what is the need to put on makeup? As the prophet warns, you “paint your eyes and put on your jewelry… you adorn yourself in vain” (see Ezekiel 23:40 and the related warning in Jeremiah 4:30).
