i'm starting to think this whole crusade against roblox is a psyop.
it's like they're all reading from the same script. notice how they always use the term "pedophile playground" when referring to the site.
@andourys can't speak for everyone but without studios i wouldn't have a 3rd of my budget. most are willing to take losses (hence, giving more to smaller devs)
i get the frustration but no need to point at buyout studios being an issue when its just a minion being unprofessional.
Roblox pushing R15 is good AS LONG as they add resources to make it easy to develop with it.
R6 (and Stud) is popular as it allows games to not look trash if they're simpler, not that R6 itself is superior.
ex. Simple pattern-based textures that fit simple builds w/ R15.
Does your game "taste" determine success?
Been thinking that some devs make funner games just because they enjoy games that kids enjoy too.
And it isn't something that you can easily change .

i've been pushing past my burnout for so long now i'm genuinely losing the will to get out of bed...
been almost 4 months of nonstop devving at this point, 6-8 + hours every day๐ญ๐ญ
@UziWasTaken@Crypticinvest1 The rhetoric that "roblox devs dumb lol" will always be popular to the non-dev majority
Jandel's career did not start at GAG, he made & contributed to huge games like Frontlines.
Gamedev tip:
1. You're tired or burned out
2. Take a break
3. Exactly 3 seconds later new game idea comes to mind
4. "I'd love to work on it"
5. Realise you have free will
6. Start working on that new idea
7. Get it done in a week
8. Come back to the other game well rested
9. "Oh yeah I wanted to take a break, well, I'm not tired anymore so I'll keep working"
It's all in your head people. Anyway I got like 5 games coming up
(Yes I know step 7 sounds crazy but I believe in you)
I'm not a scripter, but I hire them a lot and I believe AI is best used by a scripter.
Honestly, all this "replacing" talk is more like this: the output of a smaller, central team of scripters has increased with AI, so all that bloat is being reduced now. This doesn't hurt Roblox devs, it actually helps smaller teams.
As a producer, it's important to allocate every job to a person so you're more focused on actually leading. So I still think scripting has a very valid place. I would never want to use AI myself and be my own scripter.
Hope that helps!
Is it just me or do I feel like NOTHING I do every succeeds on Roblox?
I'm not here to prove that my failed games were good but, I can't even start to comprehend why I'm failing. I look at one game, replicate it, and it fails.
Then I see these verified devs releasing low effort games and getting like 1k+ CCU every time.
I'm lowkey starting to get to my tipping point, feels like everything I do fails and 95% of the time I don't even know why..
A big mistake people make doing commissionsโ:
They pick a price they arenโt happy with to avoid rejection. Afterward, they work with little optimism or efficiency.
Any serious dev prefers higher costs over a slow, time-waster.
