A π§΅with (hopefully) everything you need to know about #compit#CompIt is a Twitter pitch party for writers and readers to help each other find comp titles.
It is NOT an industry event--you are NOT pitching to agents/editors.
I have not set a date for #CompIt yet with Twitter having so many issues, but keep an eye out here for updates--I do plan to make it happen, even if it has to be on a different platform.
Hello all! Just a quick update to let you know that #compit will return later this year! No official date yet, but probably in August. I'm looking at making it a twice-annual event should it continue to be helpful to the writing community. Thank you for your support!
Hello all! #CompIt will return in August (date tbd). To help with planning, would it be better to hold it on a weekend or a weekday?
*no guarantees, but aiming to make the event as accessible as possible!

@Jonathan_Fortin Good to know! I put it on a weekend because I figured more people would be off work then--personally I don't have a job where I can be online much during the week. I might do another poll about which days people prefer later. Thanks for the input!
And that's a wrap on the first ever #compit! Thank you so much to everyone for the turnout. I hope everyone found the comps they needed!
Feel free to keep scrolling the hashtag and suggesting comps, and if you have any feedback (and would like this to happen again) please lmk!

@brandva421 Yes, avoiding both ends of the spectrum is good! Mega best sellers can make it look like you aren't very familiar with the current market (for instance, if you comp LOTR for a fantasy). And some people say it's overpromising.

Finally, we're posting some community prompts in the five days leading up to #compit and would love it if you join in the fun!
For any other questions, please dm this account or comment here. I hope #compit is fun and helpful for everyone!
A few tips for suggesting comp titles! Ideally, comps should be:
-traditionally published books
-not mega bestsellers
-published within the last 2-5 years
-the same age category and genre
Please do not post Amazon links or promote your own work during the event.
