Congratulations @paulgfinch You’ve worked hard and shown strong, creative leadership in a great union with a diverse membership I continue to be proud to have worked for and with. Thank you @steph_smith303 for a decade of groundbreaking work as the first @bcgeu woman President.
ICYMI: BCGEU Component 1 VP @DeanPurdyC1 spoke with CBC’s @CBCdsouza about Nanaimo's new correctional centre which opened last week. Nearly 100 BCGEU members work at the facility.
Dean provided several updates and shared some feedback he has heard from members who work there. Specific topics discussed during the interview included the benefits of the new facility for both inmates and staff, potential safety concerns, the advantages of having short-term custody for women, the possibilities of contraband being smuggled into the facility and more.

Unhappy about this news? Instead of taking it out on the retail staff at BC Liquor Stores, consider writing your MLA asking them to give the workers if this province the same inflation protections as they gave themselves!

Meet the Governor of the @bankofcanada He makes about $500k a year. He doesn’t think workers deserve inflation protection from the soaring cost of living. Wants us to trust him. What do you think? https://t.co/adOIePiDjj #bcpoli#canpoli

BCGEU accuses NDP gov't of bargaining tactic "usually employed by right-wing, anti worker government and employers." New Democrats tried to go over head of GEU bargaining committee, by circulating last week's gov't offer to union members.
If cost of living protections are not appropriate for public service workers according to the B.C. Government, why have MLAs of all parties enjoyed this protection by legislation since 2013? Just asking!#bcpoli
