To me, cultural identity is less about specific, universal traits, though I think there are patterns, and more about group dynamics within the world and, in this case, within the UK and where you feel you fit into them.
Since this article does not explain what 'English identity' is I would like to challenge @RobertJenrick to give me three examples of what I, as an Englishman, have in common with all other English people and what specifically I should be proud of as a result.
How strong is regional identity in Britain? North Easterners are as strongly attached to their region as Welsh people are to Wales
Scotland: 61% have very strong attachment
Wales: 49%
North East: 48%
London: 38%
North West: 35%
Yorkshire: 34%
South West: 32%
South East: 22%
East: 16%
West Midlands: 13%
East Midlands: 11%
MPs have joined disabled activists and bereaved families in calling for a public inquiry into the years of deaths linked to the actions of ministers, senior civil servants and advisers at the Department for Work and Pensions.

Among people aged 18-44, Reform got 11% of the vote, and Green got 13%.
Guess which party is being hyped up by all the wrong people as the next big thing?
It's actually sinister how they feed the bogeyman and censor the one party that will actually help you.
Whilst MSM remains silent @libertyhq are back in court again today to #DefendDemocracy against the govโts shocking & shameful decision to seek to appeal their High court win in May. Thank you everyone who is standing with them & for sending this update to a million views

@PotRoast1975@SkulkofRoses@ourelectra@AbleismCat There's a big difference between simply not being a utopia yet and the decline we're experiencing in the UK. It will likely get worse before it gets better. That's the backdrop to this. And a fetus is not the same as a living person, so those situations are hardly comparable.
@PotRoast1975@SkulkofRoses@ourelectra@AbleismCat We're talking about humans - emotional, communal creatures that bend to social pressure - not robots. And it isn't only about coercion. It's also about the Gov. not providing enough care - or being selective about who it gives it to - because it's found a more convenient option.
@ourelectra@AbleismCat All things considered, forced to live is a greater good than than forced to die. They're both injustices but not necessarily on the same scale. Especially since "forced to live" puts people in a stronger position to pressure the government to provide adequate support.
@offbeatorbit@rachelmsrp Oh, apologies, Americans, we forgot to consider you in our discussions about legislation that affects our lives and deaths here in the UK. But I promise you that no UK laws will cause Americans to suffer. ๐บ๐ธ
Can we please have an Assisted Living Bill for people with disabilities and those who are terminally ill or suffering from severe mental illness to live lives as full as possible, provided by the state with dignity, care and respect? #AssistedLivingBill
@PartTimeHobo @EnglandVixxie7 @Dis_PPL_Protest@paulapeters2 They're defending themselves from an increasingly hostile state. I don't doubt many right-wingers will be coming at this from a self-interested angle. They're the reason the UK is arguably not ready for this legislation in the first place, which is truly tragic.
@janglymissive@colinwibbley I'm not sure this helps. This subject tends to confuse a lot of people because these terms are used interchangeably too often. Better to concede that English is an ethnicity and then point out that ethnicities are not the pure or static things that racists like to claim they are.
