It is extremely jarring to see how Western politicians and media have suddenly discovered that bombing hospitals and killing children is bad, after spending the past 9 months backing this to the hilt in Gaza.

Dhruv Rathee was phenomenal. He was able to compensate for all the damage done by Godi media over the last decade. But take nothing away from the farmers, students, the women of Shaheen Bagh, the activists in jail, who were at the forefront of the struggle on the streets, against an authoritarian regime. They are also equal heroes in this fight.

Let's also take a moment to appreciate all the independent media organisations and journalists, who, despite threats and intimidation, kept asking questions and speaking truth to power.
