Marco Rubio is the colonial dictator of Venezuela, this is horrific:
“The U.S. Treasury receives the revenue from most of Venezuela’s exports, then disburses it gradually to Venezuela through the country’s private banks, a relationship akin to parents handing out allowances to children. Mr. Rubio and his team set the conditions on what that money can be spent on, and by whom.”
Zeynep Sonmez says tournament organizers ban her from wearing Palestine-supporting pin
“I used to wear a pin. Tournaments no longer allow me to wear it. We had a discussion with the organizers because the Ukrainian flag is allowed but Palestine is not. They ultimately told us they definitely would not allow it ... I can use the vibration dampener and they can't object to that. That's why I put the watermelon symbol on my racket”
FIFA suspends/sanctions federations almost every week. They met over four times to discuss banning Israel and kept delaying it for “investigations.”
How much investigation does the most documented genocide in history need?
Why did our ruling class not invest in decarbonising faster to avoid this acceleration in deadly heatwaves that scientists warned would come? Because of the capitalist law of value.
Capital invests in what is most profitable to capital, rather than what is most necessary for humanity, so our ruling class keeps ploughing investment into fossil fuels and SUVs, while we get far too little in renewables and public transit, even while the world burns around us.
We have more than enough capacity (labour, factories, technology) to address the climate crisis, but as long as capital controls investment and production we are prevented from doing it.
We are trapped by the capitalist law of value, living in a miserable shadow of the world we could have.
I’m still waiting for journalists to question American players about Trump’s actions and foreign policy. You know, bombing schools and stuff like that.
Seems like political questions are only reserved for Asian, African and Arab players.
So it's the first time in history that #NZ commercial fisheries killed orcas. And it comes in 2s.
One of the 2 killed is within a whale sanctuary where commercial fishing is unrestricted. It comes as commercial fisheries are emboldened & Jones has restricted access to footage
I have never heard of a country invading a neighbor and then calling it unfair that their soldiers died in that invasion. I don’t think any other country ever even thought to make that complaint.
On top of that, Israel now wants to retaliate for its soldiers being killed while invading their neighbor.
This is pure madness. Just leave Lebanon.
Gee, NZ Government must really hate the environment.
Look how much of its pristine tourism and natural areas it wants to privatise and sell. These include Coromandel’s Cathedral Cove, Wellington’s Remutaka Ranges, Dunedin’s Tunnel Beach. It includes the Hauraki Islands #kiwi
The games have been great but this has really been such a terrible World Cup outside of those stadiums. FIFA was banking on the excitement over the games quieting the political conversation, but the mistreatment of so many teams and fans have been the defining story.
This Moroccan side is giving me future of football vibes, the level of flair in every player in possession, the risk and the angles with which they play seems so radical compared to the patterns of play our European eyes are used to.
Brazil doing well to compete IMO.
No, it serves as a stark warning to New Zealand about what happens when we give any room to fascistic social attitudes and allow the capture of our political economic system to racist zealots. Like Simon Court.
Palestine may not have made it to the World Cup, but Bosnia and Herzegovina fans are making sure it is always present, whether in Canada, the U.S. or football stadiums everywhere.
Bosnia and Herzegovina fans chanting for Palestine in the streets of Toronto on their way to their first game at the 2026 World Cup 🇵🇸🇧🇦
Fans will always save the tournament!
BREAKING:
Israeli settlers are burning Taybeh in occupied Palestine.
A village that has stood for thousands of years.
A place where Jesus once walked.
Home to the oldest living Christian community in the world.
And not a peep from Western mainstream media.
What an absolute disgrace. A FIFA-certified referee being denied entry to the United States purely because he is Somali.
The World Cup is meant to bring people together. This is racism, plain and simple. Shameful.

So far at the 2026 FIFA Epstein Cup before a ball kicked:
- Senegal & Uzbekistan squads treated like criminals upon arrival given full cavity searches;
- Africa’s best referee sent back to Somalia despite having a diplomatic passport;
- Iraq team photographer sent back despite valid visa;
- AIPS (international sport journalist association) calling on FIFA to sort out unacceptable visa issues of African & Iranian journalists;
- 90% of Moroccan fans with tickets denied entry
- 14 members of Iran backroom staff denied visas
Not a word from Gianni ”today I feel black/gay/disabled etc” Infantino.
