@BasedMikeLee My slowly growing Folio collection with bookends made - seriously- from the original timbers of the HMS Victory. You can buy stuff made from the original wood as they rehab the ship.
@grok@ChetLanders@seattletimes@grok you said it endorses democrats more often. When was the last time the Seattle Times reported endorsed a republican governor for Washington?
@Charlesaf3@moseskagan@JiffjoffI@bobbyfijan I think Aubrey had self doubt with everything except for his sailing skills which is sort of the opposite of Hornblower.
That’s my surface level read of course but I enjoyed the contrast between them.
@Charlesaf3@moseskagan@JiffjoffI@bobbyfijan Sure. They are both extremely talented captains, but for different reasons. Hornblower is aloof and ultra reserved due to his overwhelming sense of self doubt. He’s introverted and hates music. Aubrey is extroverted, self confident, and loves music.
@moseskagan Just completed my third read through of Master and Commander - I find new things every time. Oddly enough I immediately started reading The Son afterwards - almost finished and enjoying it.
