Joe Manchin killed the billionaire tax, despite the fact that there aren’t any billionaires in West Virginia.
Manchin isn’t representing his constituents.
He’s defending the wealthy and corporations.
@amyklobuchar @LuAnnM10 Unfortunately many of your fellow Senators are in the pocket of Big Pharma and the "Build Back Better" has been stripped. As long as corporations are in control of Congress and our government, nothing will change.
@michaelbeck@joelockhart It would force people to go on record why or why not they are for or against a bill. The filibuster saves them from doing that. If they got rid of it then they'd have to actually work instead of go through the motions.
@dood6262@POTUS If they take their business elsewhere, good riddance. Let small businesses take up the space. They hire people. They pay taxes. They innovate. Many corporations already are taking their business overseas where they can exploit ppl for less wages than they pay here.
@neversaidtheyd1@POTUS Wealthy people used to pay their fare share in taxes back in the day. Some still do but many have found ways in tax havens and shelters to get out of paying taxes.
@s24jin@POTUS None. Corporations only serve to make money for themselves, their shareholders & the wealthy only invest in stocks, use tax havens and hoard their money. They underpay their employees, cut corners and under report their earnings while crying for corporate handouts from the gov.
@ToddKadry @POTUS Bipartisanship? Neither the corporate Dems or the Corporate Repubs will revisit the tax codes- that would hurt their overlord corporate donors.
@wavemaker1955@POTUS Many companies still make millions in profits even after their payroll and other expenses have been taken out. They have net income. They have loopholes. There are many ppl here who are poorer than poor and still pay taxes. Stop making excuses for the elites.
@soulslanguage@POTUS We can do our best to support Justice Democrats who don't take corporate money and primary out those who do like Manchin & Sinema.
