Nothing could be more insulting to a god than reducing him to nothing more than a barbarian chieftain or tribal lord, stripped of any abstract or metaphysical framework. Calling Murugan an ancestor is not, in itself, objectionable. Ancestor figures often become objects of reverence and can evolve into divine beings. The problem arises when Murugan is reduced exclusively to ancestry, as though he could never have represented anything beyond a deified human leader.

That framing unintentionally concedes something far more damaging about the intellectual history of the ancient Tamils. It suggests they were incapable of imagining cosmic realities, abstract metaphysics, or theological ideas that transcended ordinary human experience. Instead, it confines their religious imagination to clan identities, local landscapes, and remembered ancestors, as though their spiritual world never aspired to universal or transcendent meaning.

The gods of local folklore often find their abstract and metaphysical counterparts within the broader Hindu pantheon, where they acquire a richer cosmic identity and symbolic significance beyond their immediate cultural setting. At the same time, these abstract deities become accessible to local communities by taking on regional forms, stories, and customs that root them in familiar landscapes and traditions. Rather than replacing one another, the local and the universal exist in a reciprocal relationship, each giving the other meaning and depth.

Reducing this process to mere appropriation misses the nature of Hindu religious development. It has historically worked through synthesis, allowing local gods to be understood as expressions of universal principles while enabling universal deities to be experienced through local myths, rituals, and sacred geographies. The result is not the erasure of local traditions but their incorporation into a wider theological and symbolic framework.

Even Chinna Thathi Udhay Anna has no clue what it is, but they will still vote for him. The reason being their bias, even though it has endless flaws around it.
Morever, Idealogy is one of the thing, but it’s not the only thing. There are other factors that will be considered by voters when they vote for someone. Don’t try to suppress anybody’s voices with this intellectual cosplay.

Ignorance of Peter Sandhu is bliss. But Musk's algo will surely push it to your feed every once in a while and ruin your peace. So better to face it armed with knowledge. Let me paint an elaborate picture of this Peter Sandhu.

Peter Sandhu is basically a bunch of perennially online, narcisstic, attention seeking folks who use X as a personal diary and will also offer "holier than thou" comments on every social issue and every film. If you look at their feeds, it would feel like you are observing a 21st century Buddha or Jezus. Virtues keep overflowing online. If only Peter Sandhu ran this country, milk and honey would perennially flow.

The group has so much ideological diversity: left, center of left, far left, extreme left. Initiation into the Sandhu happens by hating on RSS/BJP/Modi/Hinduism/Brahmins. Their favorite buzzwords to use are Consent, Brahminical, Privilege, Problematic, Misogyny, Feminizm, Patriarchy, Intersectionality, Postmodernism, Nooliban. Did I mention consent? Consent is their God. In capital letters. They would tolerate anything when their holiest God Consent is present. Whether the consent was manufactured by hormones or manipulated by psychos doesn't matter to them. CONSENT-hu Akbar. Consent Charanam Gachaami. Consent-lujah.

Almost invariably, they will all have some non-Indian flag or watermelon or rainbow in their profiles. Pronouns are must. Misgendering would be treated worser than a war crime. 786 genders existing is a fundamental belief to be a part of this group. Hating on your parents is a nice-to-have feature. Hating on India and Indian culture is a must-have feature though. Being a plant mom or cat dad is a nice-to-have feature. Having kids is frowned upon, although exceptions exist. Addiction to alcohol, cigarette or any substance is welcomed. Sandhu is a judgement free hedonic zone. Its a helpful community where members often help other members with "substances", pills and divorce attorney contacts.

Their heroes are Cheguevera, Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and BTS. There is precious little to like in India except for EVR, Ambedkar, MK thaatha, Stalin appa, Udhayna and Inbana.
The likes of Vikraman, Mathur Sathya and Vedan will be hyped, until they are exposed. They will then be replaced by the next batch. Rinse and Repeat.

The group is 99.99% rational but beliefs in Jezus, Prophet, Buddha are respected. Sandhu is known to be a cursed place full of miserable people, so members subscribe to "Evil Eye" irrational concept. Womxn send virtual hugs to each other and it is believed to have magical healing powers. They love animals but eat beep, its not complicated to understand.

Every once in a while they all commune for their main festival of "Solvathellam Unmai", where screenshots of personal intimate chats get shared, to prove who is the "righteous person" in the relationship to a set of strangers they've never met. Elite Sandhu members appoint themselves as Lakshmi Ramakrishnan and will moderate this sheetshow.

In typical Dstock SJ model, Red-Black group is the Pannaiyaar. Anyone who disagrees with their core Pannaiyaarthanam would be labelled Pacha Sanghi, Neela Sanghi, Sivappu Sanghi, Tharkuri Sanghi, Sanghi B team etc. Group infighting exists, but they often unite against their common enemies - Brahmins, Sanghis, India, Men or In-Laws.

Beyond political commentary and validation seeking behaviors, the primary function of Peter Sandhu is to play Bumble. It was my duty to wake him up every day sometime between half past seven and eight o'clock. I, however, would be up and about at half past five or six. As soon as I got up, I would take a round of the two expansive gardens around our bungalow.

I would then take a bath and prepare the English-style tea for Doctor Saheb: the brew in one pot, milk in another and sugar in a separate container. The tray thus readied, I would carry it into his bedroom and wake him up.

After finishing his tea and skimming through the papers, he would do his exercises. He would then go to the veranda of the bungalow and stretch himself out in an easy chair.

Our driver would then arrive, apply massage oil on him and give him a nice rubbing down. This massage would carry on for about half an hour, during which time our driver would be bathed in sweat.

Doctor Saheb would then go to brush his teeth, wash his face, finish his toilet activities and go for his bath. He needed hot water for his bath. Very often I would give him his bath too. He would love it when I soaped him, scrubbed him and rinsed him.

He would sit like an innocent and obedient child when I gave him his bath. After the bath was over, I would help him dry himself. I would then dust talcum powder all over his body.

He would then come to the dining table for his breakfast by about half past eight or nine. You could call it an obsession, but it was his intense desire that I should prepare the breakfast items myself and serve them to him hot and fresh.

I had arranged for a hotplate and placed it right next to the dining table. As with his other meals, for his breakfast too he liked variety in what he ate. Whatever item he asked for, I would prepare it for him according to his liking and desire and serve it hot.

I would make a new dish for him almost every day and he would consume it with great joy and relish. Even with eggs I would do them for him in various forms turn by turn: boiled, half-fried, full-fried, omelette, mashed, scrambled, etc.

There would be hot toasted bread with butter to go with the eggs. He loved different kinds of jams too. He would then wash his eggs and bread down with coffee. He absolutely loved coffee.

He loved China crockery and we had a whole range of sets for different meals: for breakfast, for tea, for coffee, for lunch and dinner.

His instructions were clear-the sets should be used only for the purpose for which they were designed: tea set for tea, coffee set for coffee, breakfast set for breakfast, meal set for lunch and dinner.

Different sets for different occasions. We had a lot of crockery and cutlery sets too.

Once breakfast was over, he would get ready for office. He wanted me to help him get dressed. He would lift his arms up and I would slip the shirt on him and button it up for him. I had to help him put on the jacket too.

He would again stand with his arms raised so that I could put the jacket on him. Once the jacket was buttoned up, I would then be required to place a handkerchief in the breast-pocket.

The handkerchief had to be folded in a specific way so that one triangular edge showed neatly over the breast-pocket.

Once he had his clothes on, our cook Sudama would be ready to help him put on his socks and shoes.

Once he was properly dressed, he would set off at around nine or half past nine. His car would be waiting for him in the porch. Once Saheb began to move towards his car, I was expected to accompany him, open the door for him and shut it once he was seated inside.

He would then wave goodbye and I was required to stand on the stairs and keep waving to him till the car had driven out of the gate.

Having read some uncharitable views about Ajith after his interview, I couldn’t help but notice the stark difference between Ajith and Kamal.

Both are members of a “polar pair” - the other poles being Rajnikanth and Vijay.

Neither look anything like the common man.

That’s where the similarities end.

I like all 4 actors, but to be honest Rajni and Vijay don’t have to work too hard to look relatable. Their background,looks and character choice make it possible for their fans to imagine themselves in their hero’s place easily.

Kamal and Ajith on the other hand, look ‘elite’.

Kamal’s political ideas (no matter how he arrived at them) at least help his audience forget his identity, which could have been a baggage in Dravidian land. He’s a Dravidian atheist, and like any other Drav atheist is quick to ridicule one religion and one caste. His public persona is built on the utter negation of his background. He may not have intended it that way and to suggest otherwise is cynical - but his personal erasure probably helped in his career.

Ajith is the opposite. A conundrum worth pondering.

He doesn’t put any effort to sound like an average Joe, just to be more relatable. His choice of sport - car racing - is inaccessible to the vast majority of us. He speaks his mind, even in front of the high and mighty. He doesn’t toe the popular socialist line. From an effeminate man to a cuckolded husband, he doesn’t shy away from characters that could harm his “image”. He tells his fans to take care of themselves and their families, instead of wasting time with fan clubs.

He knows he’s elite and doesn’t give a flying fuck. He’s not going to contort himself to fit someone else’s mould. He’s not a politician. He’s a human, with grey hair, wrinkles and inner flaws.

If authentic had a synonym in the film industry, it would be Ajith.

(An imaginary, representative short story)

Ravi, a sixteen-year-old boy, was glued to his phone all the time. He never helped at home and rarely studied. His mother was fed up with his behaviour and often nagged him.

One morning, something inside him shifted. Without being told, he cleaned his room and sat down to study.

His mother looked surprised. Then, half-smiling and half-sarcastic, she said,
“Wow, the sun must have risen in the west today!”

Ravi got affected by this comment. The inspiration he had felt drained away.

An hour later, he was back on his phone — back to his usual behaviour.

Takeaway for parents:
Be very mindful of your words and tone.

A single taunt can kill the inspiration behind a new effort.

Encouragement nurtures growth; mockery stunts it.
