Important piece in today's @IrishTimes addressing the economic & structural issues stifling progress in the North West.
Crucial that we have a seamless border where thousands of border employees are able to work remotely without additional tax challenges.

Important point raised by @ibec_irl on the Irish Govt's decision to reimpose work-from-home restrictions.
The pandemic is not over, and yet, from January, cross-border workers will be effectively forced into the office or face a 'double tax' on their income. @Paschald must act.
If implemented, NPHET's advice means that from January, cross-border workers who work remotely would face a 'double tax' on their income.
By following health advice, they will be penalised.
@Paschald must extend the temporary Covid-19 waiver on Trans Border Workers Relief now.
Brilliant piece in today's @FT from Ireland Correspondent @jude_webber on the 'double tax' issue facing ROI cross-border workers.
Featuring insightful interviews with Eamon Lafferty @Seagate, @AidanOKane@AllstateNI and @Derry_Chamber CEO Paul Clancy.

❌"For UK Residents Only"❌
Read Coalition Co-Chair @condowds' piece in today's @irishnewsbiz on how Irish remote working tax rules could spell the end for cross-border workforces.
⬇️Now is the time for @Paschald to act and solve this issue in Budget 22.

❌Tomorrow is Budget Day, and Finance Minister @Paschald has a decision to make.
🌍Will the Minister leave outdated cross-border tax rules unchanged, harming border communities?
⬇️Or will he grant ROI-based cross-border workers much-needed flexibility to work remotely?
🌐The world of work is changing. Businesses across the island are increasingly keen to implement new, modern working practises.
🚨From January 2022, NI businesses may be unable to offer ROI cross-border workers remote work.
⬇️Urgent legislative change needed from @Paschald.
📢Great to see Coalition Co-Chair @AidanOKane speaking at the @CCBSCrossBorder's 22nd Annual Conference.
🗣️Very important discussions to be held on the future of cross-border working, including the 'double tax' issue facing home-working cross-border workers.
📢"As we look to make Derry and the entire North West a future remote working hub, the concerns of cross border workers must be addressed".

Today, a report by @UnaKelly3 detailing the need for a change in home-working tax rules for cross-border workers was broadcast on @rtenews' Morning Ireland programme.
It featured interviews with CBWC Co-Chair @condowds and others affected by the issue.

Yesterday, the Coalition met Finance Minister Donohoe (@Paschald) to discuss remote working tax rules facing cross-border workers.
We were very thankful for the Minister’s time and look forward to further interaction with him to bring forward a solution.

@BorderWorkers@NewIrelandComm Another important initiative that requires a re-think of current cross-border tax legislation. The world has changed, time to look at it with a fresh perspective! #CBWC
Cross border workers based in ROI but working in NI, pre-pandemic, are faced with a 'double tax' on their income if deemed they work-from-home.
We hope @conormurphysf, @LizK1988 and @cathalboylansf will assist us in removing this barrier facing employees in the border region.
"Restrictive cross border tax rules continue to leave rural communities behind, the organisation's co-chair @AidanOKane said."

Where to pay tax is a common question. Usually paid via employer’s PAYE system & declared at home (annually). Current restrictions puts a spotlight on tax for cross-border workers working from home. Work/life balance? Reducing carbon footprint? Time for updated policies please
Thank you to @antsoares67 and the @CCBSCrossBorder for their continued support of our campaign.
As Anthony says, we need permanent solutions, not temporary waivers, to solve this issue for cross-border workers across ROI.
