Absolutely gutted by Last of Us portrayal of lodgepole pine 16 km west of Boston. But hey, novel mycorrhizae and climate conditions may present new opportunities for rapid range shifts. #lastofusepisode3
The #UHohana Board of Regents voted unanimously to approve the renaming of the Life Sciences Building after the “First Lady of Limu,” Isabella Aiona Abbott following a groundswell of support from the campus community ➡️ https://t.co/AxMByQIMxh
It's a huge collapse in academic infrastructure. Twitter is a resource for academics to share papers, build collaborations, and communicate science directly to the public.

I had a fantastic time at #SCCSNY! So many great talks & posters by budding conservationists who are going to change the world. I got to share my work on larval dispersal and meet awesome folks - but I'd be lying if I didn't say the highlight was seeing the giant squid at @AMNH.
A message from Dr. Smith: "Earlier this year, Governor Ige signed a proclamation, naming 2022 as the Year of the Limu. Community groups throughout the Main Hawaiian Islands have been celebrating both the Year of the Limu and the many contributions made by our own Dr. Abbott" 1/4
@kaylafratt But it's such a different system and culture, with much more random/undirected breeding in cats than in dogs, and with fewer reasons for the average owner to leave a cat intact.
@kaylafratt I've been wondering about this recently too. Anecdotally, there are definitely some of the same phenotypic differences with pediatric neuters, especially in male cats (as far as legginess etc).
@MSCostantini I'm a little farther out from finishing, but right there with you Maria - I have been so completely checked out this past year. I think you are super cool and do great work, and I hope whatever comes post-graduation brings you rest and healing.
We have one opening for a paid NSF-funded opportunity for a community college or undergraduate student this summer!
We’d like to provide more opportunities for students that live on neighboring islands, so we are not considering O'ahu applicants for this specific opportunity.
An enviro group contacted my friend (a biologist) to ask if she knew anyone that could provide vids or photos of NZ native wildlife. My friend contacted me and asked if I would help out. This was the response when she told the group that my photos would be of native mussels.
