Truly gratifying to see this topic trending across Twitter - for years, I've been reporting on how Obama handing out get-out-of-jail-free cards to Wall Street created the backlash conditions for Trump. It is great to see a conversation finally happening. https://t.co/4WL5Yi6t4y
Chris Rabb, PA-03 candidate, calls out the Obama administration for not prosecuting anyone in the 2008 financial crisis
"The biggest financial theft in history! And we ceded our responsibility as Democrats and as public servants to do the right thing when it mattered most.
Whatever authority we have, we gotta fully use it. When we normalize evil and corruption—if we cede that authority—we're complicit."
If you only watch one thing today, watch this exchange between @jonfavs & @grahamformaine.
It doesn’t just show Platner destroying the Pod Save guys, it explains the divide in the Dem Party & shows how the party elite still doesn't understand what happened in this country.
The most amazing part of this clip is the valorization of the 2009-10 Congress that had huge Dem majorities & a big election mandate for New Deal-esque stuff & yet what Dems mostly did was protect their donors by gutting serious financial reform, subsidizing health insurers & failing to pass a promised public option...betrayals that ultimately led to the current political and economic dystopia.
It reminds me of how one of the biggest mortgage fraud prosecutions of the entire Obama era was against a Real Housewife of New Jersey, and not... a bank CEO.

It would have been nice if mortgage fraud by the lenders, not the homebuyers, was pursued between 1998 and 2007 with the intensity of this transparent effort
Really worth revisiting George Packer on Jeff Connaughton, Biden's longtime former aide. Should have gotten more attention these past few years from those trying to gauge Biden's true character and legacy.

This comment represents profound ignorance about both criminal law and history. No person with knowledge about the financial crisis either inside or outside US Attorney’s offices with whom I’ve ever spoken believes this..
@ChaseGoodbread What is the dynamic among Byrne, DeBoer and Grubb as this Seattle thing plays out? Why no reporting on getting Grubb to commit to stay? He’s digging a deeper hole if he continues to recruit then leaves mid-week.
