Everybody, the studios are on the stock exchange. Big movie releases tie into quarter earnings and they depend on placing their biggest films at strategic times. This also leads into project selection, trend chasing, and algorithm dependency. Unfortunately this harms creativity, original projects, and industry growth. This is one of the big things we want to change with our Universal Federal Film Tax Credit Bill to add the missing systems that would enable new independent financing from individuals and companies alike so that the US can start having some independent and local film studio industry beyond the “Big Five” Hollywood system.
If I remember correctly, even in the books it referenced how Cortana was designed to be a younger version of Dr. Halsey when she was in her 20’s, like a daughter of sorts, so Cortana can have her own identity and so there isn’t any confusion with Dr. Halsey herself. I think she also remarks how the AI doesn’t even bother to apply clothing in its appearance so a semi-naked version of her younger self popping up always throws people off or something like that, it’s a funny tech commentary. So an age-accurate Dr. Halsey is directly going against the source material, Cortana is supposed to be youthful by design and there is a technological and mutually psychological reason for a mother-daughter age gap between her and Dr. Halsey.
@MalumGroup@Gunz_go_boom Our Universal Federal Bill was just submitted in its new Version 4 draft. We’re awaiting feedback on that but it so far has been noted as fixing issues both sides of the aisle would have had with it. Like our Universal Bill for Nevada, it’s just waiting for official support.
@Gunz_go_boom You’re entitled to your opinion but our Universal Film Tax Credit Bill is a major step to move beyond and fix the issues you clearly have with the old Hollywood film industry. Hopefully “Hollywood 2.0” makes a better impression going forward!
Nevada can’t afford anything because of its limited industry, Melissa. We have spoken with state reps who revealed to us that no legislation can fix the medical and school problems in the state, Nevada apparently has money but it’s a spending negotiation and they’re waiting to see if anybody with money comes in to fix the problem in the meantime. Look at the projects they spend money on, $40M for a new library, $190M for new government office, the $12M Pickleball courts mentioned before, $50M+ to pay Formula 1 to keep coming to Nevada, and even more than that. It all shows that Nevada can campaign, fundraise, and build up funds well enough if they want to do something but at its core, it is still limited by its lack of business and industry development.
In reality, none of it has anything to do with the Film Tax Credit program or our Universal Bill, Film & Media industry in Nevada only benefits the state, it’s all about getting the right legislation in place. The current Film Tax Credit Program is so outdated and $10M is nothing when competing states are beyond $100M and even $1B! With the creative and business potential in Nevada, we should be asking for a $500M program but because this is essentially starting the program from scratch, we have to start with $125M which our Universal Film Tax Credit Bill can utilize efficiently to benefit NV’s development. To investors, such a small $10M program makes no sense as you simply can’t make enough projects with it and the $500,000 minimum spend keeps indie movies out so knowing that even $20M is considered a low budget Hollywood film even today, it’s literally keeping business away from Nevada.
So, it’s a lot more complicated than whether people agree with the concept of Film Tax Credits or not, that argument has passed a long time ago. Did we benefit by not upgrading the Film Tax Credit program in the 2023 or 2025 Session? No, it was completely unproductive, we just ended up with stagnant business and industry in Nevada and even in the 2027 Session there will be complaints about the same health, education, and infrastructure issues from 2023 and before, so the bigger question is where is the media blitz about that? For 2027, let’s bring new Multi-Billion Dollar Film & Media industry to Nevada for a change!
That’s a criticism of modern Hollywood. It’s 2026 and we still go by a “Big Five” studio system, why not a “Big Ten” or a “Big Fifty”? It’s the infrastructure, we’ve been ahead of everyone for years now on this, the old studios inherited it all without major competition, open new development support up to more artists to start their own local studios and new media businesses and you have major new means of Film & Media production outside of Hollywood. That is the base idea of “Hollywood 2.0” and our vision aims for an entertainment-first approach, no more politics and agenda films, and a grand return to striving for high-quality multi-generational film classics!
As we have explained before, the film tax credit is the system for modern film financing, there’s no getting around it. To make the programs truly beneficial is to remove the incentives and dependencies on Hollywood and utilize them to build local business, industry, & production. When Disney left Georgia, they had no local industry to fall back on, they gave all their production credits to Disney and big traveling Hollywood productions. Foreign countries are doing the same thing and are outbuilding the US Entertainment Industry with new studios on a near monthly. The US Film Tax Credit system needs to be updated to allow local development and business on a nationwide scale, that’s what our Universal Film Tax Credit Bill can help provide in every state that adopts it and our Universal Federal Bill expands that further to be competitive on a global scale and enables new levels of independent financing that doesn’t exist. Opposing film tax credit programs is unproductive as it just reduces economic activity and opportunity in the state. Las Vegas spent $12M on Pickleball courts, the entire state’s Film Tax Credit program is $10M, Nevada needs a major upgrade if it wants to produce new jobs, industry, and to become an investable state for Film & Media development.
@CompAcademyVFX For After Effects, it really is an eye opener how deeply you need to nest comps to make multiple passes of color correction and selection plugins work properly to correct something anyone would think is a very basic fix.
We just made a preliminary list of cinema lenses to provide for Babs Do Studios and we thought it was a pretty great list until all the new 65MM lenses and the new Sony RIALTO 65 started being announced for @CineGearExpo. Very cool news but it means back to the drawing board!😅
Instead of this, it would be better for the states to adopt our Universal Film Tax Credit Bill and support our Universal Federal Film Tax Credit Bill to create "Hollywood 2.0" across the country with new studios and widespread levels of entertainment industry never seen before! Otherwise millions of dollars could be wasted fighting this merger that could have instead been spent to fund new startup incentives for studios and movie projects alike as set forth in our Universal Bills.
A lot of conversation is going on about "Backrooms" and "Obsession" and how it relates to Youtube creators and the need for building up our own audiences to succeed. All of this is wrong! Every bit of this argument is its own gatekeeping scheme. Try to build up a following online, you'll see, it is the most limiting and artificial barometer of success that anyone could have ever come up with! Even celebrities and whole media networks can't meet the numbers being expected to determine "success". Look at some modern Youtube metrics, someone with a million subscribers can barely get consistent views and sometimes for not more than a few thousand of those people.
This argument essentially cuts out a whole entire generation of fantastic artists that should be creating right now because they have mostly been locked out of the industry and only now is the industry coming up with the excuse of "having a built-in audience" (through Youtube and social media). Just follow the logic, young Gen Z artists are supposed to run themselves into the ground coming up with Youtube content for years that they finance themselves which will then get soaked up by AI training and it all risks having ad agencies and Hollywood taking their unique original ideas if they go viral and all in order to meet some magic number of followers and subscribers in order to have a chance of being hired by Hollywood to direct a movie? See? It doesn't make sense.
The main issue with Hollywood is that it is still a tightly closed industry operating a very outdated system and there has been no definitive strategy or creative leadership to give everybody direction on how to move forward. Hollywood has chased trends and that may have worked before but the problem there is that they can lose track, just like how streaming business has hit a profitability wall because they failed to realize the level of demand for consistent production and quality with streaming projects that puts them in a bind of higher than expected costs with smaller returns, a literal "snake eating its own tail" situation. Some networks could possibly be shut down in the coming years, if not months, and all because Hollywood was chasing after Netflix without realizing that all of Hollywood cannot operate like a streaming network. Even worse, they quite literally are now realizing that letting go of theaters and physical media was a big business mistake that they now have to backtrack on but all indications show that Netflix is now making a move for theatrical and possibly even physical media, completely turning the chase around back on them.
So, now in the face of studio mergers, closures, reduction in production business, IP decline, what do they tell the independent filmmakers and up and coming artists? They need to meet some magic subscriber numbers on Youtube and Instagram to somehow "be professional", "look good for the studio", "secure distribution", or "to get the movie/show financed". PSA: No legitimate bank, investment fund, or group is ever going to ask for social media follower counts of an artist to qualify for a loan.
Our vision of "Hollywood 2.0" would solve all of this by opening up the industry to everyone and giving everyone a chance to succeed in their own way. It isn't complicated, the rules, forms, and "standards" that Hollywood follows and even the amount of work the whole process takes can be changed and even eliminated to allow for more widespread opportunities for artists that would be just as profitable and, if treated right, would be even more profitable than what the current system can do. This would be fueled by our Universal Film Tax Credit Bills at the State and Federal levels which enables a streamlined and multi-faceted independent financing process combined with many other innovations to provide artists solutions to create and prosper beyond California and Hollywood if they so choose. At the same time, we can help the current Hollywood industry with our Universal Film Tax Credit Bill for California as a major first step to revitalizing California entertainment business.
Overall, it's time to change strategies and to break down the gates in Hollywood. Forget subscriber numbers and follower counts, forget the gimmicks, forget the trends, its time to make a clear unobstructed path for artists to create and to help them through the process. Not everything will be a hit, nothing guarantees that, but there's no longer any reason to push away artists, hoard ideas and finished scripts, or to keep industry operations and distribution in the shadows, it's time to streamline all processes and, most importantly, create!
For those that didn’t see it, we had some new exciting updates on the Babs Do Studios blog! We talk about the updates to our Universal Film Tax Credit Bills, our progress, some industry updates, and our hopes for a “classified” project!

We just updated our Universal Federal Film Tax Credit Bill with some very important updates to advance and grow the Entertainment Industry across the United States of America! Let's work together to revitalize U.S. Entertainment for all!
@DiscussingFilm That would be a great get! If we could get investors to work with us to buy @IMAX there are some Day 1 things we'd like to do. Right now we're busy with working on finding solutions to start Babs Do Studios to increase US Film production so hopefully IMAX finds a good buyer.
@forallcurious We all just saw "Project Hail Mary", radiation, oxygen, food, water, and even entertainment are massive problems to solve with long-term space travel! Heck, our digital storage is still susceptible to vibrations and magnetic damage. How will systems function past even year 10?
Got some Babs Do updates on the way, lots going on, but we need to hear back from a few different people for confirmation and they're waiting on some other people to get back to them. All part of the process!
@Variety This is why we sought to create new systems to enable new commonsense methods for independent film financing in our Universal Federal Film Tax Credit Bill.
