During my medical career, I looked after several trans-identifying male patients who were admitted to the psychiatric ward on 1:1 suicide watch, due to repeated and relentless suicide attempts following "gender affirming surgery" ie. castration, penectomy and neo-vagina creation. These men had a history of suicidal ideation and suicide attempts, which their psychiatrists and surgeons believed could only be relieved by drastic body modification.

What has stayed with me after all these years is that they were some of the most distressed patients I have ever seen. They were not only distressed because they realised surgery hadn't cured their troubled feelings, but because they had to live with their bodies being irreversibly mutilated. It goes without saying that severe psychological distress isn't conducive to the kind of self-care most gender reassignment procedures require post-operatively. This can lead to an increased rate of complications that further impact on the patient's life in an iatrogenic (doctor-caused) vicious cycle that could've been avoided.

These patients, and many other adults who suffer worsening physical and mental health following “gender reassignment“ interventions, tend to get overlooked in conversations about iatrogenic harm, because most people believe that adults should be able to do whatever they want with their bodies. However, adults can also be vulnerable, and the onus needs to be on the medical profession to only provide interventions for which there is robust evidence that benefits outweigh the harms.

Being a woman isn't an essence, it's a material, provable fact. I'm not a female human being because society or history made me one, or because I picked the 'woman' category on some metaphysical spreadsheet. I'm a woman because I was born with the equipment to produce large gametes.

My biology isn't my destiny unless I'm unfortunate enough to live in a society like Afghanistan where my femaleness is punished from birth. My biology does, however, mean I am likely to have experiences no man ever will.

If I'd been raised by robots in outer space who had no understanding of social categories or gendered norms I'd still provably be a woman, not a man. Nadia, you are deliberately conflating two entirely separate issues. Protecting single sex spaces for women is not 'trans segregation', it is a perfectly legitimate safeguard based upon biological reality and the documented patterns of male violence.

Women fought for decades to secure these boundaries precisely because mixed sex environments put us at greater risk. The EHRC Code simply reaffirms that sex based segregation, where justified, is lawful under the Equality Act. It does not erase trans people's rights to dignity or protection from discrimination; it prevents the erosion female only provision. Your framing turns a reasonable policy into an act of persecution, while ignoring the privacy, safety and fairness concerns of half the population.

As a female MP you should know better than to sacrifice women's rights on the altar of gender ideology.

You don't seem very good at big words, Tony, so I'll summarise this for you. The Mayo Clinic found testicular abnormalities in boys on puberty blockers which, they theorise, may mean an elevated risk of testicular cancer.

Girls put on Lupron (a puberty blocker) for early adolescence suffered seizures and bone thinning in adulthood as a result. These side effects have been known for many years now, but the pharmaceutical industry has found a wonderful new market for these powerful drugs, thanks to trans activism.
