Detailed graphic showing observed changes for different aspects of our climate.
The context of the past 2000 years is included where data is available. In each case, recent changes are rapid & unusual compared to before human influence on the climate.

Coastal entrapment of #Tsunamis poses a significant risk, causing prolonged oscillations resulting in higher waves, severe flooding, and widespread impacts. We analyzed such long oscillations following 2016 #Fukushima tsunami in #Sendai Bay. Article here: https://t.co/S7G0jjAHIS
Our latest sea-level paper is finally out, and more to come. This is a benchmark for our young sea-level group at Vietnam National University. Feel free to give it a read here:

Just in time for "World Tsunami Day" this paper took a while but was well worth it. Like other tsunamis, this one has unique lessons for the future, in particular for the coastal development of Palu City and Central Sulawesi in general.
Then the wave struck 🌊...
This might be how every #Tsunami story begins. Preparedness, early action & early warning help us write a different one.

After an unforgettable 11 years in Singapore, I'm happy to share that as of this week, I am moving on the the next chapter of tsunami research at the Institute of Geology, @UAM_Poznan,🇵🇱. I will miss many people @EOS_SG (and coffee shops) but we will meet again.
Here’s my research tip:
If you’re in a senior role, support PhD students and early career academics as much as possible.
Include them on publications.
Invite them to be part of grants.
Pay them to deliver guest lectures.
We can all take steps to make academia more supportive and kind.
