🌟 Very excited to share 🌟 today was officially my first day as Chief of the Division of Health and Behavior within our Department of Healthcare Delivery and Population Science. Looking forward to growing innovative research @Baystate_Health and within our communities. 1/1
Feels fitting that as a #firstgen Mexi-Americana 🇲🇽 🇺🇸 I received my first R01 award on #LatinxHeritageMonth adding to the small numbers for us @LatinasInMed cuz these milestones are never just for us alone. Grateful for la comunidad that made it possible. A celebrar 🎉!
Child care is the work that helps everyone else work. It requires immense dedication and skill. That’s why our “Person of the Year” are early childhood educators. And it’s time their compensation reflects that. Learn how to support our #ECEs: https://t.co/TUG3kLDCEX
On little (important) takeaway from #DIScience23 plenary: acknowledge when the goal is creating generalizable insights (what we know) vs. generalizable effects (intervention works across context). They are both valuable but not the same and require different methodologies.
Did not expect to ever be sitting on a judge’s bench. When I started working with #parentsinrecovery we dreamed of a better legal way to respect and support their bond with their children. Yesterday we celebrated the kickoff of a better way - Spfd’s first #FamilyTreatmentCourt!
My daughter from the backseat of the car:
“This is awkward! This is awkward! This is so awkward!”
Me: “What? What’s awkward?”
Her: “I’m 5!”
It’s her birthday today and I have to agree, yup, getting older feels real awkward sometimes. Wish we said it out loud more often.
🌟 Happy Latino Physician Day 2023! 🌟
In medicine and beyond, our heritage enriches our journey. We embrace our culture, strength, and diversity as we serve and heal.
Noteworthy. Newsworthy. NowWorthy.

#MexicanIndependenceDay thoughts…
I was the ONLY Mexican 🇲🇽🇺🇸in my medical school class of 104 …
Only 1% of U.S. physicians are Mexican
There are 37 million Mexicans in the US
I was the 1%
You can bury a seed…but we WILL grow back

Every time I leave the #library with my girls, I feel like a little bit of my humanity has been restored. It’s literally a #mentalhealth intervention. Last night we spent 10 minutes with the librarian looking for a book on goblin sharks. We never found it. That’s all we needed.
