Jimmy Dore on Thomas Massie’s loss: “We obviously don’t have democracy.”
“It’s an oligarchy.”
“Which is why we have homelessness everywhere.”
“You go bankrupt when you get sick.”
“We go bankrupt just to get educated.”
“And we live in a surveillance state.”
“We’re like China, except we have more street crime and slower trains.”
“How dare we preach democracy around the world and that the people in China are oppressed when we obviously don’t have democracy here?”
“They did that Princeton study in 2015 about how 90% of people, their wishes never are expressed in legislation.”
“It’s only the top 10% of the wealthy people.”
“Your vote literally doesn’t matter.”

Bill Maher: Regime change didn't happen, uprising didn't happen, we didn't get the nukes, we didn't even get their military. And we look weak.
Susan Rice: Now we have to go back to the negotiating table with a much weaker hand.
Chris Murphy: Netanyahu convinced Trump that there was going to be a quick regime fall and a pro-American, pro-Israeli government taking its place. He bought into that flawed logic.
Behold Norway's World Cup team photo.
Paying homage to their Viking past, something neither Swedes nor Danes tend to feel comfortable doing.
I wasn't planning to root for them, but I sure as heck will do now! (up to a point, of course...)
The IDF has been accused of horrific war crimes in Gaza by the UN Human Rights Council & Amnesty International.
It is just common sense that those involved in war crimes should be held to account.
Piers Morgan finally said it: Israel's leadership is ethnically cleansing Gaza and the West Bank. Smotrich and Ben-Gvir want ALL Palestinians out.
That's the plan. That's always been the plan. The world is just catching up.
By far, biggest losers in US- Iran war are Gulf states. The Dubai model depends on security, stability and an openness to become entrepôts of finance; culture; sports. tech/AI, etc. That is all now at risk https://t.co/fzX5W4OnmI
Revealed: Israel’s curriculum for ‘influencing public consciousness’

A letter from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has exposed the driving force behind the push to restructure US-Israel military relations. In Netanyahu’s own words, it is “my plan”.
The letter, shared widely on social media, reveals that the transition away from American military aid to Israel is not a US-led reform, but an Israeli initiative delivered to Congress for legislative packaging. Its purpose is not to reduce American entanglement with Israel, but to replace visible financial assistance with a far deeper and less accountable form of military integration.

🇺🇸🇮🇱 Hidden clauses buried in hundreds of pages, spotted by one congressman, and now the man who pushed them is out of office.
Professor Steve Hanke says that is exactly how the Israel lobby operates.
"The lobby gets it in. But what did the lobby do to Massie? He's out."
If oil spikes this August, Republicans may not survive November.

The German FM puts forward two key policy reasons as to why Germany - for the first time - lost a bid for an elected seat on the UN Security Council.
Germany's support for Ukraine and its support for Israel.
Let's be clear: Germany's support for Ukraine had nothing to do with it. Portugal and Austria - who beat Germany - are no less supportive of Ukraine.
It has EVERYTHING to do with Germany's support for Israel's genocide and the manner in which the German government has been willing to undermine international law and the UN Charter on behalf of Israel.
Germany's blind support for Israeli crimes cost Germany its seat on the UNSC. As it should.
Germany loses UN Security Council bid over support for Israel
——
Germany’s failed bid for a UN Security Council seat has resulted in a "bitter defeat" for Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Despite a lobbying campaign that personally targeted 80 ministers and ambassadors, Germany secured only 104 of the votes 127 required, while being outperformed by Portugal and Austria.
The primary driver of this diplomatic collapse was Germany’s "special responsibility for Israel," which Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul admitted likely "cost votes" among member states.
Their stance on the genocide in Gaza as opposed to their "unwavering support" for Ukraine has triggered a "credibility" crisis regarding Germany's double standards, leading many nations to conclude that Germany does not take its own moral standards seriously.
This selective application of international law has been seen as proof of a systemic "deficit" in Germany's ability to lead.
Trump spin is meeting escalation reality heating up
US gave Iran a Trump “love tap”
Iran shows escalation dominance by attacking disproportionately in Kuwait and Bahrain
Iran’s leverage grows and Trump has no way out of the escalation trap he created
Amazing! The House just passed a War Powers Act resolution to end the Iran war! It must now go to the Senate, but it won't need a signature from Trump.
This is the furthest any WPR has gone against the Iran war!
A major defeat for those who wish to continue the war, although it doesn't automatically force Trump's hand.
Several Republicans broke with Trump to get this passed:
Massie,
Fitpatrick,
Davidson, and
Barrett.

CBS just fired longtime 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley after he spoke out against the network's Trumpian turn under Bari Weiss and the Ellisons.
Make no mistake: Trump is using the power of the state to help his billionaire pals control the media.
WHITNEY WEBB on the military now "realizing [its] initial dream for the internet"
"LifeLog [has become] Facebook"
"Total Information Awareness [has become] Palantir"
"we're coming... close to the end game"
"A lot of these 'Big Tech'... companies are just masquerading... [they] were created by military intelligence"
"I think it's important to keep in mind too that even going beyond Palantir, the Internet itself was created by the military"
"And... now we're coming kind of close to the end game in terms of full circle of them kind of realizing their initial dream for the Internet"

"I mean, I remember stories 10 years ago about massive NSA data centers in like Utah and various states before people were even talking about data centers, about all the information they've been compiling on people.
"And I think it's important to keep in mind too that even going beyond Palantir, the Internet itself was created by the military. And I think now we're coming kind of close to the end game in terms of full circle of them kind of realizing their initial dream for the Internet.
"And then, you know, in the case of Palantir, you know, I argue, and a lot of my research points to various efforts within the DARPA military sphere aimed at the Internet being privatized. For example, LifeLog becoming Facebook, Total Information Awareness becoming Palantir. You know, these have become reality.
"A lot of these big, 'Big Tech' Silicon Valley companies are just masquerading as we just started in our garage. And we're regular guys. Like, no, these are guys that were created by military intelligence and they privatized these programs and we have willingly given them our data and we continue to do so.
"And so even if you have Palantir having access to privileged information, think about something in that same family of company, like Clearview AI, for example, which is also Peter Thiel–connected, that has amassed this huge database used for facial recognition by law enforcement and militaries. So, you know, to arrest and also to murder people.
"And they just scraped most of that from stuff, pictures people freely and willingly posted. We voluntarily gave a lot of our data away, and they've been able to scrape a lot more of it than you, than you probably think."
Jennifer Welch: “Boycott every fucking thing on CBS News. From the morning all the way through to the evening. These are the same people that fired Stephen Colbert because Trump got his feelings hurt by a comedian. These people are the biggest bunch of pussies that masquerade with these grandstanding letters like they’re such badasses. These people don’t care about the truth, they don’t care about journalism, they don’t care about the Constitution, they don’t care about a free press. It’s just absolutely devastating what these oligarchs have done to our country”
