Not just a blog post.
ContentRails writes the post with every figure sourced, then builds the calculator, checklist and quiz a reader would want next to it, from what the post says. Nothing new made up.
@semrush The 96% for "best X for Y" stands out. Those are the queries where a comparison post used to win the click. Now the post has to be the one the overview quotes: a clear verdict, a date, and a linked source for every price.
@alexgroberman The 42% share is the useful part for small sites: the answer engines aren't only quoting directories. A service page that states prices, areas and hours in plain sentences gives them something to cite. A page of slogans doesn't.
@lilyraynyc Fits what we see: AI answers quote pages that state things plainly, in full sentences. An About page with dates, numbers and named sources is the easiest page on a site to quote. Worth keeping it current, since a stale founding story or old headcount gets repeated as fact.
Semrush tracked 400 US commercial keywords.
Sept 2025: AI Overviews on 45.75% of them.
Aug 2026: 88%.
"Best X for Y" searches: 96%.
On those searches the AI answer comes first. To be in it, give it a clear claim with a linked source to quote.
@DavidGQuaid The scaled content abuse policy targets low-value content at volume, however it's produced. Reddit published millions of AI-translated URLs, about 2.3M ranking in France and 2.4M in Spain, without Google acting. Quality, not method.
@glenngabe If it's built on the same network signals, Cloudflare sites that turn on Crawler Hints are already telling crawlers when a page changes. A one-toggle thing worth flipping on.
@yannnis One thing that helped us on those pages: link every price and claim about a competitor to its pricing page or a third-party test. "Us vs them" pages get skeptical readers, and a sourced figure is the cheapest trust you can buy.
Most "Surfer SEO alternatives" lists compare tools that don't write the post.
Pick by the job you're missing:
Scoring a finished draft: Clearscope, MarketMuse
Briefs for your writers: Frase, SEOwind
A publishable post with sourced figures: what we built ContentRails for.
@suraj_sharma14 One to add: get into Bing Webmaster Tools and turn on IndexNow. ChatGPT's search draws on Bing's index, so allowing GPTBot doesn't do much if Bing never crawled you.
@aleyda The more prominent links should matter most for pages that get cited. Seer's data via Search Engine Land already showed brands cited in AI Overviews earning 35% more organic clicks than those not cited.
A translation widget makes your site look multilingual and earns nothing in search. It translates after the page loads, so Google indexes the English.
What ranks in a second language: a URL per language with hreflang, keywords researched in that language, and a human review.
@gaganghotra_ Until Google does that, Search Console's generative AI performance report and Bing Webmaster Tools' AI citation data are the closest proxies we have.
@foley_seo Search Engine Land's numbers back this up: 68.01% of US Google searches ended without a click in early 2026, up from 60.45% in 2024, and CTR drops by nearly 60% when an AI Overview shows. The one bright spot: brands cited in the Overview got 35% more organic clicks.
@alexgroberman The Search Console part is the generative AI performance report Google added in June. Pair it with Bing Webmaster Tools, which now shows AI citation data too. Between the two you see far more than spot-checking ChatGPT by hand.
93% of marketers now use AI to create content. 2.7% trust it enough to publish with no human review.
The fastest-growing part of the workflow isn't writing. It's checking: 89% review AI drafts by hand, and 29% now use AI to check AI, up from 14%.
