Gun violence can "happen to anyone," says Brown University student Ben Greenberg.
"When you're so close geographically and really knowing people who have been affected, it makes you realize that it can be anyone," Greenberg said.
Greenberg is a junior at Brown University and lives across the street from where the shooting, which left two students dead and nine others injured, took place. The harrowing experience was also a reminder of the attempted assassination of his father, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, in 2022.
PBS News Hour's @IAmAmnaNawaz spoke to Ben and Craig Greenberg about their experiences.
Craig said his heart "sank" when he learned what his son was going through and that it brought the family back to the assassination attempt on him at his campaign office in February 2022.
"I'm so fortunate to be OK, that my dad's OK," Ben said. "But I really hope that the American people know that this is not OK and cannot be normalized."
