Just got off the phone with my college roommate.

His daughter was diagnosed with leukemia in January.

He has insurance. Good insurance. The kind you feel safe having.

7 months later:
Savings: wiped out. 401k: cashed early. Penalties and all. House: refinanced to cover the gaps insurance decided weren’t their problem.

He told me he’s not the same person anymore.

Said watching your child fight for her life while simultaneously fighting an insurance company over coverage codes does something to you that doesn’t go away.

They did everything right.
Two incomes. No debt. Responsible their whole lives.

One diagnosis undid all of it in 7 months.

And somewhere a health insurance CEO is getting a $30 million bonus this quarter.

I don’t know how people defend this system with a straight face.

Today I’ll work a 9-hour day to pay for illegals to have free housing and healthcare. Most of my paycheck will go to taxes , my inflated mortgage and my insanely high health insurance costs—my taxes will fund fraud, global communism, and illegal border hoppers. I’ll put away a measly amount so my children can hope to one day afford college, while the illegals who just showed up here will go for free. My American children will be paying loans well into their 30s while they compete with debt-free foreign invaders for a low-paying job outside their degree.

Dont let go of the family at the center of yesterday's Supreme Court property tax ruling.

In 1991, Scott Pung bought a small three-bedroom home on half an acre for his wife and two children. It was their family home. When Scott died in 2004, his wife stayed there. When she died in 2008, their son and his family stayed. Same home, same family, more than two decades.

The whole time, it was their primary residence, taxed at the lower rate Michigan gives a family home. Then in 2010 an assessor decided, wrongly, that they should be taxed as if it were a second home. The family took it to court and won. The tribunal ruled they did not owe it.

The assessor's response, in her own words about the judge who ruled for the family: "I don't care what he says." She imposed the tax again. She left it off the original bill and added it later. When the family came in to pay, they brought a driver's license to prove it was their home, and paid what they actually owed.

It did not matter. Over roughly $2,242 that they did not owe and had already beaten in court, the county foreclosed. A trial court tried to give the home back over a notice failure. The county appealed to stop that. In 2018, after 27 years, the family permanently lost the home Scott Pung bought in 1991.

This is what the property tax can do. Not in theory. To a real family, over a bill that was never owed, because one official decided she did not care what the court said. And the Supreme Court said the Constitution will not make that family whole.

I reached out to the Pung family, and they gave me their blessing to share their story and this photo. My thanks to them, and my respect for the fight they carried all the way to the highest court in the land. It will help families they will never meet.

This is exactly why we are working to end the tax that made it possible.

Let's add the part you deliberately left out, Senator since math is not your strong suit.

The cap is $184,500. Above it, the 12.4% stops, on both the worker and the employer. You want to "scrap" that and tax every dollar. So here's the math you skipped:

A two-income household, say a veteran engineer married to a pharmacist, or two experienced electricians running a small contracting business, pulling in $300,000 between them would pay 12.4% on the extra ~$115,000. That's about $14,000 more per year, every year, for life. Half lands on the employer, raising the cost to employ people, which holds wages down for everyone below.

Now the part that exposes the whole scam. Social Security has a benefit cap too. The most anyone collects retiring at full age in 2026 is $4,152/month, no matter how much they pay in. Earnings above the cap don't add a single dollar to your benefit.

So you're not asking them to "invest" more. You're forcing them to pay in thousands more and get nothing back. Money confiscated, never returned.

This was always a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. No invested savings, no return tied to what you paid. Just today's workers taxed to pay today's retirees, surviving only while each generation outnumbers the last.

You don't fix that fraud by enlarging it. You stop forcing people into it.
