A few things here.
1. Someone with a little more intelligence has taken over. They're actually acknowledging mistakes instead of deflecting them. Something the morons at UIDAI and Nandan's so called "volunteers" need to learn.
2. There needs to be transparency, and they need to release exact findings and steps taken to address this.
3. There needs to be an inquisition into the contracting and potential corruption here. How do you launch a barely tested barely functional tool without testing when it impacts millions of lives?
4. Education minister should not resign. @narendramodi should fire him. Set an example. This level of failure cannot be without repercussions. Heads need to roll across the system
5. Do not default to relying on the people who built aadhaar. They're as irresponsible.
2010, New Delhi, I was driving home late one night around 1 AM after a family gathering.
I stopped at a red traffic light in Green Park. There were no other vehicles around, just our car.
Suddenly, a BMW pulled up behind us and started honking aggressively, demanding that we drive through the red light.
I pointed to the signal and stayed put.
The driver got out, dressed in a suit, hurled abuses at me, and ordered me to move. When I refused, and picked up my phone, he banged on my window. Eventually he backed off, got back in his car, and sped away by cutting across in front of me. I drove off when the signal turned green.
This is the reality of India, even today: owning a big car, a big house, or having formal education is no guarantee of basic civility, class, or moral character.
This was just one of many road rage incidents in New Delhi/NCR, I experienced before I finally decided to pack my bags and leave the country.
A truly civilized society is one where people follow the law even when no one is watching, and do what is right without needing supervision.
When I moved to Singapore, this is exactly what I saw, people naturally did the right thing. The same held true when I later moved to Europe.
Regarding the recent dancing incident at the airport, many people defended it by saying, “The authorities didn’t have a problem, so why do you?” That’s exactly where they miss the point.
You never know who is sitting on the same flight, someone mourning the loss of a loved one, a person who just received a cancer diagnosis, a parent who lost a child, or someone who just lost their job. When you show such insensitivity in shared public spaces and don’t care about other people’s emotional state, that’s where a society fails.
People often abuse me for raising these issues and quickly brush them aside by saying, “Every country has problems.”
That’s true, every country does have its issues.
But the scale is vastly different. Other countries have 99% civility and 1% assholes. In India, it feels like 99% assholes and 1% civility.
Yes, I agree that no country is perfect, but the proportions make all the difference.
To those who defend such behavior and treat every public place like their personal living room: fuck off.
For everyone who suffered through 8-2.
For everyone who half 6 at Stamford Bridge in Wenger’s 1,000th game.
For everyone who suffered through Baku.
For everyone who had to go to school after conceding 10 to Bayern.
Today is for you. Drink it all in. We deserve this.
Can't stop laughing bc... Bangladeshi players brutally roasted Mullah Rizwan 😂😂
They were talking in Hindi and Bangladeshi players said...."50 rupye kaat over acting ka" after Mullah Rizwan's antics. 😂😂
I have visited multiple customers in Western Europe who start work as early as 6 am and go home by 2. Some come by 7 and go by 3. Almost nobody starts later than 8.
While at work, its only work. No personal calls, no random talks. They take their coffees to their table and continue working as they sip their coffee. They leave when they are supposed to leave. No unnecessary overtime and definitely no “oh look, i work so hard” gimmicks. Even China works this way. 1 Chinese employee does as much work as 4 Indian employees. Thats their level of efficiency. That is also how a team of 20-25 people can generate revenue of over 10 million Euros in western Europe without breaking a sweat.
The old employee I engaged in Poland was one such professional from whom I learnt a lot about ethics and etiquette. We had a deal that he would come after hours of his new job by about 3:15 pm and work till sun down. And as per his word, man would pull into the drive way every day between 3:10- 3:15 pm. He would go change to work clothes, get to the shop floor, place his phone on the work table and get to work. We would work together for the next 2.5-3 hours in which duration he wouldn’t even as much look towards his phone, let alone pick it up to ‘take a break’. And he is one of the most knowledgeable people i have met about cnc machining till date. No air of arrogance or entitlement. Come in- work- take the pay- shake hands and go home.
This is a culture i am struggling to bring about in my factory. Even my highest paid shopfloor manager is on “ghar se phone” or “gaon se phone” almost an hour a day cumulative even while he is working. We are least efficient of the lot. It has become one of the missions of my life to bring in efficiency and discipline to the boys and girls at my work place till they are around. It should become a norm that 8 hours is adequate to achieve deliverables which we presently struggle even with 4 hours of OT everyday!
Gen Z is worse in this. I am hoping the one after is better atleast.
“Why are you crying about the re-exam? It’s not like you’ll forget everything you studied in a few weeks. If you are a good student, you can study again and still score well.”
Well, that’s not how things work. Competitive examinations are not merely tests of knowledge, but also tests of timing, mental conditioning, emotional stability, and peak performance achieved after months or years of disciplined preparation. Serious students structure their entire routine around one examination date, carefully managing sleep, revision cycles, stress levels, mock tests, and mental sharpness to perform at their absolute best on that particular day.
When an exam is cancelled despite their honest effort, they are forced to recreate the same level of focus and intensity again, which is mentally exhausting and usually impossible with the same efficiency.
The hardest-working students are affected the most because they invest the greatest emotional and mental energy into preparation. After the first exam, many experience burnout, fatigue, reduced concentration, emotional numbness, and loss of momentum. Even if their knowledge remains intact, their sharpness may decline during the re-exam.
Most damaging of all, paper leaks weaken a sincere student’s faith in merit itself. When students realize that even years of hard work cannot protect them from systemic failures caused by others’ dishonesty, it creates frustration, helplessness, and distrust toward institutions.
This is why a leak-proof exam is non-negotiable, the bare minimum that can be done for hard working students.
Not Tamil, but if you like these, look up the 20th C Telugu magazine cover artist/illustrator Vaddadi Papaiah. Decades of great stuff that isn't even well known across India.
The results of the recent state elections have been dramatic by any measure.
But for me, this image will remain the most unforgettable outcome of the elections.
More than 166,000 votes were cast between the two leading candidates in this constituency in Tamil Nadu.
And history was changed by just one vote.
This image should be shown in every school in the country & perhaps around the world.
So that every child understands that when they grow up, the greatest power they may possess is the Power of One.
The power of their one vote.
@theskindoctor13 The famous clip of Saravanan Annadurai making himself look like a fool on national television, this was so hilarious and Shehzad played him so well
1. Just got off a call with @UnSubtleDesi. I couldn't be happier for her and both of us couldn't help but discuss the harrowing days of post poll violence in West Bengal in 2021. So I am going to share what happened five years ago just so ppl know what happened. #WestBengal2026.
The Bengali word for "rainbow" is Ramdhonu, which means "Lord Ram’s bow." For thousands of years, Bengalis have referred to it by this name.
In 2017, in West Bengal school textbooks, "Ramdhonu" was replaced by the word Rongdhonu, which means "bow of colors." This word was not a part of traditional Bengali language and Mamata govt introduced it specifically to replace "Ram"dhonu.
To make matters worse, Rongdhonu comes from Bangladesh, where the Islamic government has been using it instead of Ramdhonu since they came into existence as an Islamic country.
Imagine the scale of appeasement!
Please do not get tired of me posting about the same thing. The stakes are high! Its a matter of crores of Indians, especially children. When it comes to children, hesitancy can have a cost! We cannot allow history to repeat! There may not be another Dr Sivaranjani to fight again. It's not just eRZL, but no drink should be positioned in the pharmacies along with WHO recommended formula ORS, and even better, none of the other beverages should be available in the pharmacies, hospitals, and schools. Please sign the petition and share it. We need to tell the Govt. how people of India feel about the issue, not that they don't know, but we need proof.
Share this super creative video which tells one how confusing it gets for a stressed parent taking decisions when their child is sick.
Also, another two companies have come up with ORS on the label. What are FSSAi and the FDAs doing when companies are so blatantly violating the Govt. order??!!
