The Cato Institute is a libertarian think tank.
It just published a 30-year study showing immigrants paid 14.5 trillion dollars more in taxes than they received in government benefits.
Every single year. For thirty years. Without exception.
The country was lied to.
Here is what the study found.🧵
Reports now that Hegseth oversold the war to Trump and underestimated Iran's willingness to fight back.
It's almost as if he's unqualified for his job. Too bad the Senate didn't have confirmation hearings; those would have proven his manifest unsuitability to lead the Pentagon.
It’s been 297 weeks since Donald Trump said he’d release his healthcare plan in “two weeks,” just in case you were wondering how long “two to three weeks” is in Trump time.
"The sooner David Ellison takes over that network, the better."
The Defense Secretary calling for a billionaire ally of the government to take over a media outlet & make it more pro-government. This is what authoritarianism looks like. But in other countries they try & hide it.
I hope every journalist, pundit, commentator, columnist, on the right, center, and especially on the left - you know who you are! - who pushed the ‘Donald the Dove’, ‘Trump is antiwar’ nonsense narrative hang their heads in shame today. A mixture of liars and fools.
Never have I seen a group of electeds have so much contempt for the people who elected them. Brought to you by: Republican supermajority for the past 20 years
I think it’d be great if the Ayatollah were killed and the Iranian regime removed and the Iranian people made free and civilians across the region made safer than they were before all that takes place.
The problem here is that I’m old enough to remember what happened the last time the U.S. ventured into the Middle East without much of a coherent plan for what happens after the bombings stop.
And it wasn’t politicians starting that war and the journalists enabling them who paid the price.
It was our military and innocent civilians who did.
You’ll have to forgive me if I’m not inclined to think this is a good idea.
how is it possible to cram so much ignorance--"English-Scott-Irish origin"-- into such a small space?
miracle of a person said to be "world's richest man" has no more grasp of US history than a crumpled paper tissue underfoot in a men's restroom not recently cleaned.
"Me desperté conduciendo por una autopista en Arizona sin saber cómo había llegado allí.
Tenía 37 años. No era "Sir Anthony". No era una leyenda del cine. Era un borracho desagradable, enojado y peligroso que creía que el alcohol era el combustible de mi talento. Bebía porque me sentía un fraude. Un hijo de panadero de Gales que no encajaba en los escenarios de Londres. Ese día en el desierto, el miedo me golpeó más fuerte que cualquier resaca.
Podría haber matado a alguien. Podría haberme matado a mí mismo.

Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it.
I'm going to try to give a little perspective to why you don't see a lot of Black people protesting ICE in the streets or going to No Kings rallies. It's not because we don't care or are afraid.
It's because Blacks have been on the front lines of everything, Civil Rights, affirmative action, DEI and even spilled blood in the Civil War. We are very concerned.
Nearly 50% of Hispanics voted for Trump. Now, they're asking, where are the Blacks? As Black Americans, we voted for the candidate who we felt was gonna help us all (Kamala Harris). We tried to warn you. Many felt their proximity to whiteness was enough.
Not to mention that Somalians will tell you in a hot second not to call them black. They've disrespected black people publicly by saying we're the result of one night stands.
Now Hispanics are asking, why are you blacks sitting back? You're next. When haven't the Black race not, "Been Next?" Yet, what's going on the American today is just wrong.
Yes, there's been chaos in the streets. Especially, with the recent shootings involving ICE agents. Yet, with Black involvement in these crowds, the violence tends to escalate. So when they start cracking heads, blacks are always the favorite targets for that head cracking.
For the most part it's not a thing of not caring. We do. It's not like we aren't doing important things behind the scenes. I think most Black folks don't want to be the shield for everything or the target of ire for every occasion. So, right now, we're taking a secondary position.
One very encouraging thing to see, is White Americans taking such a stand. They are the answer to it all.
I hope that clarifies things a little. Of course, I don't speak for all blacks.
