@vikhyatk If you want, I can wander over to Mission and we can walk there together! (But, also, BART supports physical cards now, too, so if they didn't take your wallet, you can still use it!)
@MozeTech I don't think the city will make a true comeback; it has shifted from a labor-based city (programmers) to a capital-based city (vibecoders). Whether the mall gets reopened or not, it's still a potemkin village representing the ghost of something that used to exist. England-core.
lmao. my landlord sent me an email a few days ago that was along the lines of "hey. i know there's a guy who's been stalking you. yes, i did ignore this for months. please please pretty please get a restraining order others are starting to move out because of him im losing money"
@vikhyatk@thsottiaux in theory it's optimal to announce resets during off-peak hours such that the majority do not end up taking advantage but power users (usually vocal advocates and also tend to do more attention-grabbing things, inflating vals) will, to maximize PR without risking downtime
@huyenduong_inc@severeengineer i took like a seven year break from posting online entirely out of protest of gpt-2 and only relapsed when i Had to be in san francisco and as such lost to the moment
most of my friends are better and luckier than i in this regard; i got to avoid chatbots 'til three months ago
@severeengineer somewhere far away in niche IRC channels and on smaller social platforms owned by better people there lies a large body of people who really despise the entirety of the moment, and have since before it began in earnest
@severeengineer not tuning into the space because my connection is terrible but: contrarianism still fully exists, it's just hard when the entire economy is weighted in one direction. i know many wonderful exceptional people who are against the current moment; they're just holding on & hiding.
