Sanitation workers in Ceuta, Spain, have accused illegal migrants of killing and mutilating animals, telling Spanish television they have discovered cats “cut in half” and dismembered and revealing some were killed not for food but “for pleasure.”

One worker said they were finding dead cats and seagulls and referenced the recent death of a dolphin. Another said workers receive insults and threats while cleaning areas affected by Ceuta’s recent migration surge.

“Here they kill cats sometimes even just for pleasure,” one worker said, arguing that the animals were not being killed because of hunger because migrants receive food daily. She described the nighttime situation by saying migrants “come out like a plague” and “have to entertain themselves with something.”

There are Chinese animal torture video promoters and sellers on Twitter / X who are pretending to be legitimate animal activists. They use language that is sympathetic to animals and animal torture victims–but the reality their posts are ADVERTISEMENTS for selling the torture videos! ❗️They want engagement from well-intentioned, well-meaning, legitimate animal activists!

PLEASE see the key identifiers of such fake advocate animal torture accounts below and familiarise yourself with the "script" formula so that you can recognise these accounts and report them.

Identifiers
-They write in Chinese, rarely English.
-They post few second videos of kittens or poodles. This is the "trailer" part of the advertisement. These animals are Chinese torture victims in that same video and long since tortured and dead 😭.
- If you fall for it and engage with the account they will go along with you and say "yes how awful animal torture is" to keep up the facade.
-Another key identifier is a phrase along the lines of "if you can't help / love then don't hurt" when translated to English.

The Script:
"Just found out there was a lawyer who tortured 5,000 cats / 100s of dogs on *XYZ CHINESE SOCIAL MEDIA APP*. They were mostly *XYZ dog breed*, usually poodles / teddies. Also there is a terrible website with lots of animal torture called *XYZ WEBSITE*." In that post they post a link to another Twitter account that has an animal torture T*l*gr*m group / channel link in the account bio!!! This is what they're advertising! The T*l*gr*m channel! The profile photo of the T*l*gr*m in bio account is almost always a POODLE.

THEY ARE NOT LEGITIMATE ANIMAL ACTIVISTS! PLEASE don't engage with them! They use fake sympathetic language for Chinese animal torture victims and unfortunately, many legitimate animal advocates fall for it and give them engagement.

Report these accounts right away! And if you ask people to report an account DO NOT TAG THE ACCOUNT ITSELF. Put a space between the @ and the handle name like this 👉 @ handlename

I've seen posters about how to report animal cruelty content making the rounds online, but I DO have one thing I would like to point out: If you plan to notify law enforcement about animal abuse/torture content DO NOT REPORT THE PROFILE TO THE PLATFORM!!!

I know it may seem counterintuative BUT keep this in mind: if the profile is taken down it makes it harder for law enforcement to track the creator and gather evidence for a criminal case. These scumbags deserve jail and a trip through a woodchipper, so let's do our best to make that happen, k?

(And please keep something in mind, if you report a profile and notice that it's staying up, it might be because they're conducting an investigation in the background. You just never know.)

The best thing to do is to take screenshots and send everything to the agency who handles crimes like this in your country.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THEM!!!!!!

Here in the US we have several options including the #fbi, the Internet Crime Complaint Center (yes, that is a thing), and the US Department of Justice's Energy and Natural Resources Division.
