Five months ago, the NYPD claimed the teen in the below photo – 15 year old Camden Lee – was behind the mass shooting at the West Indian Day Parade.
They were wrong. A few days later, detectives privately told Lee's family it was a mistake. But... (1/4)

The cops have always gone after fare evasion, which esp impacts working class black and brown NYers. When I was in HS, the cops stopped me all the time for using a student metrocard bc I looked "30 something"

It is with profound sadness that I share the news that my younger brother, Edwin Ajche, passed away last night in Bensonhurst Brooklyn.
In the midst of our grief, I’m raising funds for my brother Edwin's burial and repatriation after his sudden passing, and even a small donation can make a huge difference in helping us through this tough time.
Catch this week’s Knicks win? Darrell Powell watched from prison, where he’s sentenced to die. In this essay, he relates the team’s dramatic turnaround to his own. He hopes they both get second chances. With @CUNYLaw, he’s asking Gov. Hochul for clemency. https://t.co/Ss2Iwyt9t6
Good morning to those who understand rest must be a life long meticulous love practice rooted in justice and not a one time retreat that costs money & requires a passport.
So frustrating. The pilot program didn't go well, which was largely out of the community's hand. As someone who grew up in a basement apt in CH, this is needed.
NY state’s new basement legalization program excludes the specific neighborhood (East New York/Cypress Hills) covered by NYC’s basement legalization pilot, which proved they needed state law changes to actually legally convert their basements

As someone who grew up here and saw these "random" search tables pop up post 9/11 especially in communities of color, this is very disturbing and triggering. Countless times I had my bag searched omw to school, where it became 2nd nature 4 me to have my bag ready to be searched
Mayor Adams says the city is deploying an additional 1,000 NYPD officers to patrol the subway.
The state is planning to deploy personnel to assist police with bag checks, according to a spokesperson for Gov. Hochul.

On top of the countless times I got stopped by plain clothes for using my student metrocard because accding to the cops I "looked 30 something" (I wore a uniform to school). One of those stops led to an unlawful stop, frisk, searching my phone w/o consent, & arresting me.
⚠️ HAPPENING NOW AT THE STATUE OF LIBERTY: Hundreds of Jews and allies are holding an emergency sit-in, taking over the island to demand a ceasefire in Gaza. We refuse to allow a genocide to be carried out in our names. Ceasefire now to save lives! Never again for anyone! ⚠️
Dear friends,
I got hit by car that was double parked while I was delivering for @DoorDash. It has been 2 weeks without being able to work and still recovering from my injuries. This fund will help me get by. If you can, please support me. https://t.co/5AmD4dDbbo #GoFundMe
