No, it is not required to keep your tokens.
It is required if you want those tokens on Robinhood Chain. The official post presents bridging as the intended next step.

“Can we hold on base?”

Yes. The original token remains on Base at

Bridging burns it on Base and issues the same amount on Hood. If you don’t bridge, you simply stay on Base.
