Interesting Recruiting Advice: “Enjoy the process”
Quite honestly for most the process can really suck.
“Have fun” - yes thank you I’ll have fun in 6 games of 100 degree heat (times 6-10 events).
I’m guilty of saying these things. But I think we need to keep it real now too with the state of lacrosse.
It’s stressful, it’s pressure, and it’s competitive in a very negative way.
When you get through it, hopefully you can find the joy. Hopefully you can find the gratitude. Hopefully you can find the perspective of the lessons learned and are better for it.
The process can really suck - and it’s ok to day it.
A few things that came to me today in deep thought lol
We as Grizz fans are dealing with a wild roller coaster of emotions since the deflating end to the “team photo” 2021-22 “gold accessories” season - which was by far one of the most fun seasons ever
The next season had so much promise
Top in the West and still winning after moving off of two role players in Melt & SloMo
Got our first Christmas Day Game & our superstar got his first signature shoe
And then the season derailed
•Fine in the west comments received backlash
•Crushed in first ever Christmas Day Game
•Lakers loss and Shannon Sharpe incident
•Adams injury
•Clarke injury
•Ja suspension & other off court incidents
•Ja injury
•Dillon Brooks nonsense
•Smacked in the first round by the Lakers
Then comes the next season
•Ja suspended again
•Adams out for season with mishandled surgery
•No real feel of what Smart can be for us due to injuries pre and in-season
•Ja injury
•Ja civil suit
•Historically Injured Season From Hell
That’s a lot for a fanbase to endure although we had some very bright moments along the way in being blessed with two vital rotation pieces in Vince Williams and GG Jackson - with GG having star potential
It makes you anxious, it makes you beg for transparency and transactions
It makes you want to see a team that can compete at the highest level after a two year roller coaster ride of emotions
It makes you question your own logic
It makes you feed into national and even local narratives of doubt
But it’s ok to believe
It’s ok to have faith that our young squad lead by stars entering their prime surrounded by many that are poised for a breakout can compete on the highest level
The lack of trust and fear is understandable but it’s also ok to believe again
