@wild_ecology @Celestron Alternatively, get some neoprene foam sheet (or similar) fold around the threads into a tube, and then wrap with tape to secure. Trim to fit.

They should have a bunch of diameters that you can try fitting over the threads. Might need to double up/overlap to get your desired length and diameter.
