It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Lubbock-Cooper ISD Director of Career and Technical Education Dr. Sarah Allen.
Dr. Allen served the LCP family for 15 years as a classroom teacher, Director of CTE, and true champion for all Pirates and Patriots. She established the district's Culinary Arts program, starting with an after-school cooking club and developing it into one of the most robust and respected school culinary programs in Texas. As Director of CTE, she brought that same passion and determination to every career program across the district, constantly seeking new opportunities, grants, partnerships, and innovative ideas to ensure our students had access to the very best programs and opportunities available. She was always looking for ways to move our CTE programs forward, keep them current and cutting-edge, and prepare our students for success beyond the classroom. She was honored as a National Teacher of the Month in 2021 and named the Texas Family and Consumer Science Teacher of the Year in 2024, among a multitude of other career accolades.
Beyond her impressive achievements as an educator, Dr. Allen was a deeply cherished friend and colleague, and an inspiration and cheerleader for all students. She opened doors for Lubbock-Cooper students and staff, loved them, advocated for them, and introduced them to opportunities they may not have even known existed without her guidance and encouragement. Our world has been made tremendously better because Sarah Allen was a part of it.
Services for Dr. Allen will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Allen's family, our fellow members of the LCP family, and the hundreds of staff, students, and families whose lives she touched.
