Again if SP was too expensive that’s fine, but AA didn’t build a shutdown bullpen or bolster the offence apart from Thomas. Having no-one who can really consistently hit in the DH spot hurts.
I think the worry is where is the talent going to come from, he won’t sign the top tier free agents, more focused on relievers, he hasn’t resigned our own free agents and he is very conservative on the trade front. The farm can only go so far.
@RayHayBay That’s what I don’t understand, if you couldn’t get a starter that’s fine, pivot and build a nasty bullpen. Especially if you have any concern at all about Suarez. Also, another bat wouldn’t have hurt.
The best part of the rotation issues now is hoping Sale stays healthy enough, Mahle continues to be usable, Elder doesn’t revert to 2024/2025 Elder, and Martin Perez doesn’t struggle. Maybe you get something from the rookies/AJ, but it’s hard to believe there won’t be issues.
Ok if you couldn’t get a starter for what ever reason, why wouldn’t you at least add an arm or two like a Jeff Hoffman. Like shorten the game especially Suarez coming back is questionable. Have a starter go 5 and then hand it to your bullpen
I’m not sure why people are shocked, this has been AAs ways of operating. The only reason Sale is in Atlanta because he was available for the price of sp5. Same with Iglesias. The braves have never just gone for it and it shows with how little we have given up.
@CrosbyBaseball Could it be that the Braves aren’t known as a team that changes anyone until it becomes untenable? The team has longevity in its GM and manager positions over the last 30 years, and nothing changes until it becomes something they just can’t ignore.
@jase1129 He has so little prospects to play with. Instead of prospects coming through we have a bunch of AAAA players. Gwinnett has been bare of young talent for a few years apart from 1/2 prospects at a time
Not sure why people are surprised that we're rolling with it. It's what AA does. It'll hopefully roll into the trade deadline and there'll be something to buy. That's how we got three outfielders in 2021.
@Carr18J It only works if they actually spend, I really hope they do but spending money in free agency has been pretty limited to people falling into their lap
The thing is sure if you don’t want to sell don’t sell but they could have tried buying on someone that could help them in 2026. They did nothing to help their 2026 season
@yogster92 The whole organisation has been off for a few years, I really think they need new voices and break the current inertia the team has. They really gotta see what they have in people in the second half and look after key contributors as much as they can for their 2026 season
@mathomp_501@RayHayBay Actually feels where I’m at, the issue I see is they almost have to perfect health wise next year as the depth just isn’t there. So even if you could plug the holes with new players, I’m not confident they have enough major league players to make a go of it.
@harshasridhar12 It’s more not the age but he didn’t really have any good numbers in any team. His numbers while good for a 20 year old they didn’t yell promotion
@mathomp_501 I don’t get it, like what are you hoping to get apart from hoping he can cover a few innings. Tbf, I have the same issue with Luke Williams on the hitting side
