The Cortical Bionics Research Group seeks to build next-generation intracortical Brain-Computer Interfaces that enable dexterous control of bionic hands.
Check out @giacomo_valle's summary of our new paper showing the details that we can convey to BCI users through spatio-temporally patterned stimulation in somatosensory cortex. This is a great step towards restoring natural sensation from future prosthetic hands.

Our group has a new paper out now in Nature BME, led by Charles Greenspon. It covers a number of updates on how we can restore tactile sensation from the hand using intracortical microstimulation (ICMS).
Pushing the Limits of ICMS for Tactile Feedback with UC Chicago scientist, Dr. Charles Greenspon, is tomorrow (online). Make sure you register today, it's not a conversation you want to miss.

This was a big team effort by the labs, and especially the study participants, across three universities (@UChicago, @UPMC, and @cwru). These results are a big step forward for using ICMS to restore tactile sensations post-injury.

These interactions allowed us to improve the ability of participants to both locate which finger an object was contacting as well as how much force was being applied to it.
🌟 Exciting Opportunity Alert! 🌟
We are thrilled to announce an open position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in #neuroprosthetics and #iBCI at the @BionicsNeural@chalmersuniv
This role will involve cutting-edge research aimed at developing innovative neuroprosthetic solutions.

Postdoctoral Scholar position is open in the Hatsopoulos Lab and Sensorimotor Bionics Group.
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work in sensorimotor neuroscience with a focus on manual dexterity in non-human primates beginning in January, 2025.
Excited to share the first paper of my PhD under @jenpgh!
Here, we revisit the idea of motor somatotopy in humans implanted with intracortical electrode arrays as part of a clinical study in @RNELabs and @Corbionics
